    According to Wikipedia he played in the club's first match;

    "Shortly after his split from the rugby club, Preedy encountered by chance a group of young men discussing the idea of forming an association football club. Preedy was taken with the idea, not least because football was seen in the area as the "poor man's sport" and his involvement would therefore bring him into greater contact with the poor people he wished to help through his ministry. To this end he formed a football club in September 1887. Preedy acted as principal fundraiser and organiser of the club, dubbed Barnsley St Peter's F.C., and even played in its first match".

    Cocker.

    Either way, you're both wrong, because you forgot about Tiverton Arkwright, ex-Rochdale, signed by Keith Hill as an exciting prospect, played 20 minutes away at Ipswich and then frozen out, only for Flicker to build a team around him, for three games. Flicker then dropped him and gave a fan a steely glare at the 'Evening With...' At the Lamproom, when someone asked why we weren't playing Arkwright. Danny Wilson wasn't even told that Arkwright was on our books, when he took over, and then when Johnson took the reigns he expressed his delight at being reunited with Arkwright, having played with him at Bristol City, revealing exatly what he thought of him by giving him a free transfer half an hour later.

    Flicker declared him a special person and signed him for Bury, only to realise that he was rubbish and palm him off on the Baldy Mourinho at Rochdale.

    So, no, you can't have Tiverton.

    Smart arse.

    In fact his first name was really Preedy and Tiverton was just a nickname from that.

    Preedy.

    I honestly can't remember anything about him being here other than him being an international. It was so low key that's almost like we never signed him. Strange.

    Correct, neither is Harry Tufnell. There must be loads of others missing off that list from the early years. Would have to get the books out though...
