The same as every week, wrong side of his man, diving into challenges and getting beaten easily, and his inability to jump or head a ball. Not his fault though, he's just not a centre half. I still think he'd make a decent right winger.

I don't get that? He creates chances and goals, blumming necessity if you ask me! I was impressed with him today, really tried to single-handedly get hold of the game and sort the side out. Not seen that from him before.

For me, Mellis and Dawson compliment each other well, both offer something very different in midfield. Dawson carves out the space for Mellis to play and create chances, has found himself on the end of one or two n'all.

I was saying it sarcastically - as in its a luxury for us to even have a player that can both score and create, and we're choosing not to use him.

I'm the same as you, don't understand the notion that we can't find space for him.

    Totally agree

When fit, Dawson & Mellis would start every game for me.

Said the same thing on here during the week. With the 3-5-2, more than most other formations, you need people who are able to do the very specific jobs that the formation creates, there is much less flexibility. You need disciplined wingbacks who have the engine to cover an entire flank having both attacking and defensive nouse - for me Kennedy can't do this. Your centre mids also need a massive engine too as they often get pulled out wide covering for out of position wingbacks, meaning there is less room for luxury players - particularly against teams with strong wings, I think this is the reasons Mellis is getting less of a look in. And you need centre backs who are confident and competent playing in a 3 and are well trained with how it works...something which I don't think we'll get by constantly rotating. All in all, unless we get a LWB in I don't think you'll see them play 3-5-2 again as Flicker was touting a formation switch during the week and yesterday should have confirmed that you can't play it with the wrong players.

I'm not sure anyone can play to the required level of intensity every week. That's another reason why Mellis should play IMHO - we need creativity and quality as pure effort is not sufficient in the long run.

Agree with that. Though if we slot Mellis in I'd be tempted to revert back to 4-4-2, alongside Dawson/Perkins, which would give him a lot more freedom to be creative, rather than having duties to cover when people get pulled out of position.

Yes, it was the general attitude I didn't get. :D
