Problem is he's not from Barnsley. Came to us from Thornes Juniors in Wakefield. It's a good place for kids to play football. It has good coaches who teach kids not just how to play but to play with the correct ethos. Wolfie goes back to make the year end awards.
I will agree to disagree but I would point out that by your reckoning he got nowhere near the player which if correct makes the attempted tackle even worse, what was he tackling , the grass , fresh air ? he has ended up sliding in at full pelt & getting nowhere near the target which should be the the ball thus ending up on his backside & then for a few seconds out of the game , if you going to tackle, tackle fair & hard but I will repeat that it is all part of the learning process for him & he is a great prospect , but was lucky to get away with it..
I like the look of this lad and feel his introduction to the line up has been a big positive for the team, as it's allowed Bassi & Quina to do their stuff going forward.
You won't let it go will you.... the intention was clearly to break up a counter attack.... if he'd caught the man it would probably have been a yellow..... he learned from the Derby game that when on a yellow you don't make rash challenges... never in danger of a red against Fulham.... he's a dominating central midfielder.... yellow cards are an occupational hazard... especially when breaking up quick counter attacks.... just be thankful we've found someone that actually makes challenges....
What are you on about " not let it go " ? its a forum & we are discussing an incident from last night , if you have read my all my comments and not selective bits that I am very complimentary to the lad, in fact I really rate him but I know he is flavour of the month but that should not be allowed to prevent discussion & please do not patronise me by telling me I should be thankful , I will express my opinion whether it suits you or not .
My point throughout this has been he wasn't trying to make a tackle. He was trying to block the pass being played to breakdown the attack - because he wasn't close enough to make a tackle. That's why there was nothing for him to get away with.
He's my favourite player because he's not from Barnsley. Wakefield and Thornes all the way! Considering I was born in the former and played/coached for the latter.
Think it was an attempt at a block last night but it was also a reminder to even those in the stadium at just how quick the game can get at times.
Didn't realise he played for thornes as a young en. Miles infront of palmer and benson at minute hopefully we can get him a new deal especially as palmer will be most likely released in the summer.
