£939 for a season ticket roughly £50 per game, Jesus. I know league 1 isn't great but at least its affordable

 

Unfortunately it won't do anything, they'll just take the games abroad, probably to the states and middle east - they'll pay whatever to see it.

 

EFL needs to break away from it, take the FA Cup and the League Cup with it.

 

It’s probably £100 tops at the local non league club, you can have a pint watching the match, there’s no police treating you like scum for daring to want to watch a football match.

As controversial as it may sound I actually think a salary cap on its own would be the worst thing for Football as TV revenue would continue to increase and all that would happen is greedy owners would get richer and would attract even more unscrupulous potential owners.
Either way the everyday fan is paying the price at least uncapped the fan can see where there money goes.

I do agree however with the concerns over clubs going under. IMO the only way to control that is by brining in rigorous cost controls but making sure it is managed efficiently and the punishment is harsh to counter the risk.

 

Set it up with salary caps and FFP rules from the start before it gets out of hand.

Leaving aside the uncovered stand, which won't appeal to many for obvious reasons, an Under 14 season ticket can be had for £210 which translates to £11 per game. I don't think £11 for a Premier League game is too bad when compared to other areas of entertainment, particularly in conjunction with the facility to spread the cost over 9 months, not with a scheme for which you have to jump through hoops, but regular direct debit. There also appears to be a ticket resale system if you can't go to a particular game.

All adult tickets are overpriced but everything seems overpriced these days. What isn't true is that the lifelong Wolves fan has to pay £939 for his ticket. And there are five areas of the ground (4 covered) the same price or cheaper than he paid last season. So I'm not sure why "The first one to go will be the child’s ticket so there’s every chance that Harry won’t be able to go to football anymore" when they could sit elsewhere and pay the same for both tickets as a single ticket in the most expensive seat in the ground.

But what I find really offensive is the admission price to football games being linked to mental health. It's not OK to do that. The struggles people have with mental health are not because football is expensive and it's irresponsible to make the connection. It trivialises a serious problem. People don't have mental health problems because it's expensive to got to football matches any more than they have diabetes because of the price of a cinema ticket.

 

FIFA? Their noses are even deeper in the trough than the national associations. If we're expecting them to take a moral stand the game really is fecked.

When some clubs are allowed to go bust mate.

I can’t remember a single fan worrying about sustainability whilst flying up the leagues, buying success and giving it the big un.

If fans want clubs to deliberately lose money in order to make them feel good about themselves on a Saturday, then let them take up the slack when they can’t pay the players wages or financial penalties.

Phase out parachute payments and let things take their natural course, if they go bust, let them start again at the bottom, there are plenty of better run clubs coming out of non league to replace them.
