What does "Pakistan" translate to in English?

Paki isn't an offence term towards those with Pakistani roots.

    Look, the fact is

That you cant use that word because they take offence, no matter how you justify it....

"People who take offence about something that isn't intended for their ears is just a bit pathetic."

So if I'm out and I hear someone racially abusing someone else then it's not for me to be offended as well?

Similarly then I shouldn't get offended at Oakwell if fans chant racist abuse at a player because it's not directed toward me?

techically scabs are not a race.... But what you are suggesting is, I can call my team mate a bomber in a burka and even though she doesnt find it offensive some dick from another team who is white as snow, with no understanding of the conversation could take offense therefore its racist?

    In a nutshell

Yes, if you say something to ten people and 9 arent bothered but 1 takes offence then it could be deemed racist.

    Thats how sad it is....

thats down to context though. Someone giving oddjob some then yes be offended but when your walkign down the street and hear something in passing it is very very easy to get the wrong of the stick and jump to conclusions about what was said and the meaning behind it.

Is it against the law to use it?

The &quot;naughty&quot; word was originally used to express pride for their heritage, much as &quot;Brit&quot; can be used for us. Also, last time I checked, Pakistan was a country, not a &quot;race&quot;. </p>

Too many zenophobic, fluffy, political correct NIMBYS who think they know whats right and just adding fuel to the fire these days...

    Got that wrong mate

If they are Pakistanis, then they are from Pakistan, not Britain. If they are from Britain they are British, I agree with the race card tho`. Too many people want make problems when there is none.
Amir Khan is British, not Pakistani or owt else. His parents may be from Pakistan, but HE is born and bred in Bolton. He may be proud of his heritage, but I expect people born in other Countries to British parents are too.
