Agree there Jay ....you just need to join up the dots. He wasn't signed too late and he is always 2 weeks off being ready! For me we identified him as a good replacement but gambled on being able to get results until he was fit. We should not have let bradshaw leave without an adequate replacement (like pompy with chaplin).
If we’d have signed Lyle Taylor from Wimbledon I think a partnership of Taylor Woodrow would have been something to build on
That will be his new name then. Some injured players/always sick colleagues get called "Sicknote". We should now start calling this lad "Couple of weeks" Woodrow.
Ha ha...I like that! just talking to someone I know....who told me he was in light training but would be suprised if he was in the squad this weekend. He is highly rated by the management team and his key asset is pace (which I think we are missing).
Said in the presser 2 weeks. Have to feel for the kid. Up sticks north to a new club, chance to play regular football and he gets a niggly calf injury, comes back a bit too eagerly, and suffers it again.
He is also going to be under a lot of pressure to perform due to the shortage of options we have up top. I do feelnfpr the lad and hope the fans give him time if he needs it.
I'm hoping when he does come in he is fit & can give us the extra bit in the second half of the season that could take us up. If Potts is fit for Saturday & Hedges too, then we have some good options. I've bashed George Moncur a bit, but not without reason. A lad with skills, but his decision making, application and fitness are his undoing. I'd rather have Potts or Hedges over George. George is OK off the bench.
Today's Chronicle says Hedges is very close to returning to the eleven tomorrow and Brad Potts also has a chance of being involved. Regarding Woodrow, coach Winkler says " he's running but the physios will make him be patient. The one time he trained with us, you can see he had something special and is different to our other strikers. If you have a problem with a strained muscle, you have to wait a long time." Signs are he could be ready to play in two weeks time. Winger Lloyd Isgrove is out injured and not even training, so it's difficult to predict when he might be back.
I hope we don’t rush him, still think he’ll be an impact... but could’ve done with another loanee until he’s fit.
Mi old mam used the say... "Why lie when the truth is good enough". Don't they think we can handle it? ... How little they must think of us..
If you mean that he runs about more than Moncur, and thus gets into better positions and is more active, then OK. But when it comes to being more creative and with a better finish, Moncur is well ahead. "Effective"? You would be less likely to bring Potts on to change a game.
I would always bring Potts on before Moncur and pick him to start before Moncur. I admit that is because I don't rate Moncur at all. What i was getting at is for all his technical ability Moncur does very little. I like Potts when he gets the ball he looks to go forward and is very direct. Moncur does have a decent goal in him but they are rare. Does he create a lot? I don't seem to recall much. Might just be me, every game I go to I hope this is when Moncur puts in a performance but as yet its not been the case.
Perhaps we are both straining to make a decent brew out of either of them. I have seen at our club finer players, even at this level, in their positions or with their instructions, who make Potts / Moncur hardly worth arguing about. In an athletic age Potts, once he gets going, may be more worthwhile to a team. But Moncur is more of a footballer. Such are the times.
