Cardiff will be in the same boat It's the FA Cup Semi-Final for Christ's sake - A once in a lifetime experience for people from Barnsley& Cardiff whether they go to every game or cheers us on from the armchair - some of those fans will have been at Oakweel when we played to crowds of 30,000+ in the 80's Cup run so we do have the fan base. So you would rather see the stadium half-full than a sell-out crowd. How insular. You don't have to go to every single home and away match to be interested in this game mate. And before you ask - yes I am a season ticket holder but understand why some fans can't afford to watch football week in week out but will push the boat out for an FA CUp SEMI-FINAL.

Think so (wrong place I know)
i.e you'd rather see the ground half-full than havea full ground
You're assuming that 15,000 are only going for a day out. I reckon all 30,000 will be there hoping to see Barnsley win.

lets hope we all sing our hearts out, stuff the sheep ******** from the valleeees and wipe the smile off crooksdale and co..(mcfail included) (dancin) (dancin) (clap) (clap)
If that was Macc town in the coca cola cup i was there it was fecking awful and we went into admin shortly afterwards :'(
RE: Have you just crawled out of hibernation too? Oh yeh, i'm a part timer me - definately not as big a fan as you obviously - in fact your probably the biggest fan that barnsley have ever had! - YEH RIGHT. I don't feel the need to get into a childish "I'm a bigger fan than you" spat - suffice to say i have been following Barnsley for many years and have put £1000's into watching them over the years. For the past couple of seasons i have not had a season ticket due to work and family commitments, but have gone to watch them whenever possible. So, if that's what you mean by crawling out of hibernation then yes, i have. By the way i am taking 8 other people to the game - all of which have never been to see Barnsley FC before - one of them is a 16 yr old lad from Wombwell who's dad is a liverpool fan so won't take him to watch Barnsley - Do you not think he might get the bug and start going to Oakwell? - I hope so. Every one of them born and bred in Barnsley and proud of the town and the team's achievements. I will say again, don't be so short sighted and grow up! Oh and it's not wise to threaten people who you don't know sonny.
RE: Think so (wrong place I know) Would you really like us to just take 15,000 fans to Wembley and be the laughing stock of football? Would you really like us to take just 15,000 fans to Wembley and the club to lose out on much needed revenue to fund new players/ground inprovements etc? My,My. What a super fan you are - obviously you have your club's best interests at heart! You haven't really thought it through have you.
RE: Well, it's true! Where were they all against Macclesfield in 2002? Annoying how people pick on those without STs, quoting where were they at blah blah blah Funny how those posting those messeges are the ones that went to Macclesfield? Who went to Boundary Park in 95 when the fog was so dangerous to drive in? Who trapsed all ove rthe country to watch friendlies? Who went to Plymouth/Portsmouth/Wimbledon on a Tuesday night? Who was there when we got under 4k in early 90's at home? Oh wait, me (doh) Every club gets these extra fans - they are annoying I agree, but would you rather have 11k at Wembley and not allow these people to go?
I know. It's great int it? Am all set wi mi Hovis butties, a lid a tea and a free ride on Barnsleys laid on charabanc. So what meks thee a proper fan then? Tell me abart thi scars and all the hurt tha's suffered over fo'ti years. Or is it just from say, ohhhh around 1997?
15000 real fans? BFC get between 8000 and 11000 homes fans (give or take) for most games. They have between 6000 and 7000 season ticket holders. Where do 15000 real fans come from? I can see your point but the reality is if the only people allowed in Wembley were those that had been to over 75% of home games this season, it would be a very quiet afternoon. Many of the people going will only go to this game, but they will support BFC on the day, they will cheer and get behind the team, the team should respond better to 30000 fans than they would do to 8000, so it's all good! I know fans feel protective about their passion, and why should someone enjoy the highs without doing their time with the lows, but these games require something more. And you never know the long term may be beneficial. Prior to the prem how many season ticket holders where there? This increased during the prem and many of those new ticket holders have stayed. If we hadn't got in the prem BFC would not have 7000 season tickets now. Sorry to go on.
All that time that the BBC waste on Dickie Bird When quite clearly Poet is the bestest fan that Barnsley have ever had ever, cos he went to Macclesfield you know. Elitism is one of the worst character traits, not least because it is often unfounded and almost certainly will be bettered by someone else. Unfortunately, a lot of Reds fans, or should I just say the ones that can spout off anonymously on sites such as this, try to demonstrate this regularly. They moan all season about poor attendences (whilst totally ignoring every other reason than people just not being bothered) and then moan when people do turn up. I'm a bigger fan than you because... We can all put something at the end of that sentence, but most of us are adult enough to choose not to.
I'm a bigger fan than you because.... You're only 5'10" and I'm 6', so whose an adult now? (well said BTW)
RE: I'm a bigger fan than you because.... I'll take 5'10", as I'm 5'9" at best! 6 feet if I'm stood on Molly's wallet, though.
That's a good thing in my opinion. Maybe these same people will start caring about football after the game.
