    Bit late to this but here goes -

    Winner - Argentina, originally thought France but injuries have taken their toll. Spain, Brazil, Uruguay & England the only other contenders for me.

    Shock exit - Portugal - They still seem to build their side around an immobile 37 year old & still play Pepe at the back. If they built around Bernardo Silva & Bruno Fernandes I’d give them more of a chance. I think two very well organised sides in Uruguay & S. Korea will put them out.

    Surprise - Uruguay - Currently got the best midfielder on the planet that isn’t De Bruyne in Valverde. I love watching Nunez too, he’s just raw & exciting. He’ll cause havoc & him alongside one of Suarez & Cavani with the other to come on screams goals. They’ve got some ageing legs at the back but I think the rest of the team will cover for that. If they win the group it’s likely to be Switzerland or Serbia & then Belgium or Croatia to get to the semis which I think are very winnable games.

    England - I said a quarter final defeat to France before today so I’ll stick with it even though we were superb today.

    Golden Boot - I’ve backed Martinez of Argentina mainly because I think he’s got a great chance of getting a bagful against Saudi Arabia like Klose did all them years ago.
