Well I share some of your concerns but really! Not even a glass 1/10th full in that post. It’s going to be great to be back at Oakwell and after last season there’s a lot to be positive about. Some of those lads should kick on and continue to improve. The ones who’ve come in look like they can add something. No idea about how it will all turn out (will know by the end of Oct) including the Coach, but bloody hell, can’t wait to get back and see how we get on.
Wow the OP makes my posts look like the posts of a happy clapper. Christ I thought I was a pessimist until I read that, we might as well start playing in L1 now let's swap places with the massives of S6
I am concerned but I think this man has took it to a new level and abit ott. We haven't even played a competitive game yet ffs. My main concerns are. Vals styles was critised by many on here as hoof ball etc. But if the new bloke thinks we have the players at the back to play it out and wants to over play it in our own half like yesterday were in trouble. Not sure were the goals are coming from, woodrow was our top scorer last season but I think dike and Morris scored as many with goals from open play which is a worry as the were only here half a season. We lost alot of goals and assists in mowatt can someone take over that? Many of the new signings are gambles the lad from Burnley looks good. Have we spent all the 2million compo from val?
Is this the return of 1. Young Nudger 2. Hemsworth Or is it Goldthorpe Red using a pseudonym as he seems to have inside knowledge of the workings of our club ?
I think in his mind it's unforgivable, but in mine it was just a young lad bonding with his team mates
We haven't lost Mads? He's injured, true, but nothing has been said to suggest it's season ending or anything that extreme. For all we know it could be a couple of weeks. And we now have a fully fit Kitching who I'm hoping will be a real option this season
The poster is entitled to their opinion, and I'm not going to argue with them in that regard. I have posted on here a few times in the past about how impressed I was with Valérien. He did have an aura (as Robert_Goulet says). He was well-mannered, treated people with great respect and appreciated the input of every person working hard for the club. But he was still pretty ruthless. There was his way and his way only. And his way was massively successful. Was last season our fourth best season ever? Something like that. I was sad to see him leave. Just as I was when Daniel departed. But it's football and I've seen lots of good people leave in my time. From players to staff, and harder to take usually, my close colleagues. But this is my club, and so I'm happy to be here. I always hope that we can improve what we do, each year, and only when that becomes impossible will I call it a day. But that means my longevity makes it certain that I'll constantly see change around me. The gaffer now, Markus, he's the sixth I've worked with. That's a head coach every year. I don't go into detail about people currently at the club, because it doesn't feel right to. But I'm not seeing any red flags personally, and I've found him very easy to work with. None of us can judge him as a coach yet, because we haven't played a single competitive game. But it's the modern world and every year in football it feels like there's less and less patience and more and more demanded of clubs and its personnel. Our surprise performance that was last season has probably hindered us slightly in that respect. I can comment though on the OP's claim that discipline has disintegrated, because some of the reasons they offered up to support that assertion I was involved in, or in amongst if you like. The players do have a laugh, a bit of fun, and wind each other up. That's not a negative, not in the slightest. All examples the OP mentioned, happened at appropriate times. If a player leaves training to ride a floor cleaner, fair enough. But at a photoshoot whilst he's waiting for his turn in front of the camera, I see no issue. The water thing where a player was drenched, was at the end of training where he'd lost a dare. So no, I don't feel there's a discipline issue. As for a player eating at a restaurant, that lad wasn't in the squad (along with a handful of others not quite ready) but they all attended the game at 5pm and sat with us in the main stand. There's nothing else in their post that I care to respond to really, because it's just opinion at the end of the day.
Well. that's got my Sunday, and upcoming season, off to a flying positive start. Backwards and Downwards (as opposed to my normal Onwards and Upwards).
Top tip. Don't write forum posts when coming down off a night on the crack. Or whatever it is you're on
I agree, some of these concerns are valid- no quality left back if Styles moves to the centre, two young lads in the middle who potentially will get “old manned” by the battle hardened championship midfielders, a new style of play which relies on a goalkeeper and centre half’s who can play football on the ground. A lack of new coaches and back room staff changes. All a massive worry tbh, I think we’ll quickly know where thiis season is going, I can’t write us off before we’ve kicked a ball but it looks like it’s going to be a tough one to me. Some of the other stuff just seemed like wild speculation at best, and unless there’s proof of some kind of collapse in discipline I don’t think we can take it at face value.
don`t post right often but can you robert goulet provide evidence or a spread sheet that tells us the fans were you find this information as has been posted regarding your post I am sure that one off them really massive clubs in Sheffield would love your valued support
It's OK, Tooth Fairy still exists. 7 year old Grandson put a tooth under his pillow just last week for her
The main thing to make me feel positive, regardless of manager, is that this is our 3rd consecutive season in the championship and nearly all our squad now have considerable experience compared to when we first went up. Last season showed they had good spirit and work ethics, I'm sure that wont disappear overnight.
Nothing wrong with anyone posting their opinion on here. That's what this forum is all about so fair play to you RG for saying what you think. However, for what its worth much of what you interpret as going on at the club looks purely speculative and at the moment I'm more inclined to believe YTBFC's input. As to the style of play, spine of team etc. that too is pure speculation at the moment because we haven't even played one proper match yet so we just dont know. At the moment the jury's out on everything and everybody and it wont be returning a proper verdict for several games as far as I'm concerned. Could win the league, could finish rock bottom and anywhere in between. Far too early to be as negative as you are just as its far too early to be ultra positive. Come back in 6 weeks and give us all an honest assessment of what you think then.
