WAS Robins fault - he squandred £100k/week on loan players - O'Connor et al - and ended up not playing them - joke! That's why he's been in massive demand since he left us! Good luck to Cov.

BEST = Danny wilson (taking us to the promised land of the Prem)

WORST = Steve Parkin (absolute dog 5hite and took us down when we had safety "in the bag")

Must also add that Bassett (paly-offs); Davey (FA Cup semi-final); Clarke/Hunter (promotions) need a positive mention.

Wilson the best for obvious reasons. So many to choose from as worst, will go with Hart, his football was as poor as is PR skills, the most boring man in football.

Alledgey Bent as they come and didn't give a ****.

De Zeeuw would have stayed but "Harry" wanted his mates in

Agree about John McSeveney. I was a regular away supporter until I went to watch us lose 4-0 at Notts County. Dave Booth spent 90 minutes finding touch touch beyond the half way line. However, he did not waste money like Spackman, so even though McSeveney's team undoubted played the worst football of any Barnsley team in my life time, Spackman gets my award for sheer incompetence. In spite of your eloquent championing of Clarke and Hunter, my vote goes to the only manager to take the team to the Premiership, Danny Wilson.

Best - Wilson, Clarke, Hill and I thought Machin was alright

Worse - only one for me. Spackman by a mile.

Re: Gave a new meaning to the word dull

I remember that season well I think some people thought we were called Barnsley Nill in those days - my second season of watching - still think Spackman was worse though

For me its not easy but if I had to pick just one it would have to be Clarke in his first spell - turned round an average 4th division side and built what in my opinion is still the best side I have seen
Honourable mentions for Danny Wilson - obvious reasons and Norman Hunter who had us playing the best football to watch but couldnt rebuild the side Clarke built

Worst is easier - Spackman - wheras Clarke was responsible for a huge upturn in Barnsley fortunes and left us in much better shape than he found us Spackman did the exact opposite

Dishonourable mentions for McSweeney and Hart
