Nope, I've seen half a dozen worse performances this year. Still, let's not let the truth get in the way of a bit of melodrama.
One of the most disappointing performances but nowhere near the worst of the season. In terms of ineptitude We were much worse last saturday against equally moderate opposition.
I didn't go last weekend, so I can only judge them fairly - on what I see. Today, was an embarrassment. We weren't playing a Watford or Leicester. We played a poor, and experimental Bournemouth team who were there for the taking. In a must win game. We not only failed to win it, we gifted them it in injury time. Fair play to yourself, Jay, ST and whoever else who felt satisfied with the effort today. I'm not one of those who proclaims "so long as they try" that I'd be happy. I want my team to try and win, to be bold. Especially now. Didn't see it today. But saw hopeless, gutless and talentless laikers toil to another defeat.
To be reight I thought we were ***** and lacked any sort of quality. In terms of hone performances I'd put it about 6th or 7th worse of the season. We have been awful all season and I didn't think we were any worse today than against equally woeful sides like Yeovil, Millwall, Donny or Wednesday. Like I said an awfully disappointing performance given what was at stake but not a new low. I can also think back to the last 8 home games under Hill many of which were worse than today.
We aren't talking about Keith. He's got nowt do with this. We have just lost - again - and confirmed in my opinion that we're down. Wilson's untouchable this season, I know that. But the signs aren't great for me. Today was a new low. For me. Agree, disagree, dunt care. My opinion. Shared by far too many.
Sorry thought the title was the worst display in years could have picked games under Davey or Flitcrodt or anyone else. We just need to maintain our perspective it was ***** me saying I've seen us shitter is just comparing ***** to *****. I'm pissed now so the pain is receding.
After more alcohol and a nice sleep, I thought it only fair that I return to this thread and say that I went OTT in the OP. It was absolute dog **** yesterday. But the worst in years? No. That'll teach me for posting in the direct aftermath of a match. Was utter ***** though.
Was poor , but how many times have we played well this season , about 5 or 6 good halfs all season . Hope we stay up , if not hope we bounce back next season
It was awful Whitey, Wilson set the team for a draw, at home, when we're rock bottom. Shocking tactics shocking players, no heart, no guts... nothing at all I can take from that game. Nothing. Can't wait to get to the end of the season. I feel sorry for are the poor staff that will lose their jobs while the talentless, gutless players will steal a living at another club.
So Woods and Pedersen had no intention of scoring when they had decent opportunities? After all they wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of the gaffer would they? We're rock bottom because confidence is low and margins such as those two opportunities that would have changed the game for us are why we are where we are. Once Danny sends the players out of the dressing room there's nowt much he can do to affect the game other than substitutions or verbal instructions from the touchline.
Just because a team is set out for a draw doesn't mean players aren't allowed to score. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Completely right. Someone might also want to mention tackling, passing to their own team and actually putting a bit of graft in may also come in handy.
I don't get this 'sent out for a draw'. Genuinely don't. If we'd played 4-5-1 then fair enough, I think it would be a fair criticism, but we played 4-4-2 with wingers. Two proper strikers up top, that very few teams play nowadays, Jennings on one wing and McLaughlin on the other. Every time their 'keeper received the ball we had six players in their half, 3 on the edge of their area. That's not setting up for a draw, that's having a go. You could argue that McLaughlin is really a full back, but I don't think at such a young age his position is set in stone. He's now started 3 professional games, one on the wing and two at full back. He certainly showed plenty of skill throughout the match, constantly trying and often succeeding in beating a man and getting the ball over. Anyway, at the start of the second half we brought on Cywka, an out and out attacking player with no defensive qualities what-so-ever and withdrew our attack minded young lad to full back. When we've played similar formations many have criticised Wilson for being far too gung-ho. If some are saying too adventurous and others are saying it's too defensive, I can only conclude it's about right. Fact of the matter is, if we'd scored the piss easy chances we created we'd have won. Bournemouth did nothing to to prevent those chances, we just fluffed them. We did that because time and time again this season our squad has proven it lacks the necessary quality.
