It was Definitely. We went for a meal in Sheffield after the match. John Gannon came in there and his face was a right mess. We asked him about it and he confirmed it was Cooper.
RE: John Deehan at Bramall Lane... I think you're thinking of Steve Cooper and it was actually a high kick rather than an arm. United took the centre and feigned to pass it out wide to the left, so Cooper jumped up to block it. But the stiker changed his mind and played it out to the right, making everyone turn their heads...apart from Cooper who continued his follow through and high-kicked the United player in the head. No officials or players saw it.
RE: John Deehan at Bramall Lane... I wasn't there, only having he benefit of tv coverage which just about picked it up. I remembered it as Deehan but couldn't be absolutely certain. Hard to believe that it was an accident though, as your version seems to suggest. Why would Cooper, athlete though he obviously was, make such an effort for so little gain? Not like he was trying to scissor kick the ball into the net was it? I reckon he MEANT to "do" somebody.
RE: John Gannon / Tony Agana..... I was sure it was Agana as Gannon would have been yards away at the kick off? Maybe Johnny was complaining that Coops elbowed him later on? Whoever it was didnt get up for a couple of minutes Dean
Wasn't really a foul, but Ian Banks Once got sent off before he came onto the field, as I remember Was sub warming up and got involved with the linesman I think - was it at Bornemouth?
RE: And THAT celebration I was at the game v Stoke FA cup replay won 2-1 - missed the celeb as I was having s*x with the guy next to me at the time, but saw it about 1000 times on TV afterwards In the pub afterwards nobody was talking about the game only about the somersault Woud LOVE to see it again it was a classic - RIP Coops
i was rite on the front row of the west stand and saw carl regans challenge against norwich it was terrible, 2 footed straight into his ankle, i had no complaints about the red card
RE: John Deehan at Bramall Lane... I think the incident you refer to was Rodger Wylde on Dennis Mortimer ?!
Alex Neil, dirty little barsteward, remember him!? last season, playing for Hamilton Academical Vs Dundee at Dens Park, Fundee, laid Alex Rae out flat, unconscious for fully 5 minutes and only got a yellow. Scottish Div 1 is spectacular, not, can't wait for my next trip to Oakwell. Confounding pundits, confusing bookies and gobsmacking opposition fans...don't you love the Sun...YYYYOOOOOUUUU RRREEEDDDSSSS!
RE: Kenny Burns and Norman Hunter Norman Hunter once said: " I am not the quickest player, but I can stop all the players that are"
