losing 4-1 to Bristol City on Danny Wilson's first return

we also lost 3-1 to Wigan around the same time and Liddell scored after about 60 seconds

Parkin should never have been allowed to start that season

Ah, his performance, yes. Never been so angry in a football ground. Having said that our performance with 8 men against their 14 was brilliant. Didn't deserve to lose after such a performance.

For me it must have been in the late 70s against Halifax Town who we always used to draw in the old League cup, we lost 1-0 and Bobby Doyle missed a penalty, we were stood on the old open end wiv abart 34 Halifax fans . Dun't no how they got on but we went 'ome well p*ssed off.

RE: a bit harsh on Dyer and Betsy

I was disappointed with Naylor who we had on loan from Ipswich. I was convinced he was going to get one over his local rivals as usually happens. Turned out to be disinterested ala Deon Burton.

I was working in Coventry that day.

I had arranged to to leave at 3.30 so I would be in plenty of time but the M1 was snarled at J22 due to a massive pile up. I took the decision to divert off at J22 through Loughborough, up to Nottingham, out on the A52, up towards Clumber Park to the A1, back over the M18 and up the M1. Made it into the ground as the teams were coming out of the tunnel after getting changed out of my suit in the car park behind the garage.

I've had some close calls trying not to miss a game but that was one of the closest!! :)

    Brilliant night.
