Thank fook he did because I really couldn't take watching us in division four for the first ever time. Those four years in division three were bad enough.

    Holland v England U.S.A. 94 Qualifier

Very scary time in Amsterdam and Rotterdam - idiots everywhere and thousands of robocops on the streets kicking off as well. Fences pulled down and seats chucked around, some fools even tried setting the stand on fire

Needless to say England lost and didn't qualify and it went further down hill from there.

Kipper Jackson ran on the pitch

and after game a police horse got stabbed in the eye with a pen from the bookies and it shot up in the air and threw the copper off.

    That was a nightmare

Seem to remember it was just like you said, but also with half bricks raining down from above too. Like being on Omaha Beach on D-Day.

RE: Coach park after our famous 0-0 draw at Liverpool in the League Cup ...

You're lucky you were in a coach park. We were parked on one of the terraced side streets as we only got there for the last half an hour. No sooner had we got off the coach than we had pint pots chucked at us from a pub behind the kop and they weren't even at the game! After the match scores of youngsters appeared down the side streets and attacked our coach. Someone hurled half a garden fence and it hit the window where I was sitting. Then we were bombarded with snow and ice from every bridge and street corner between the ground and the motorway.

Birmingham in play offs after 4-0 win

The locals weren't happy, there were 4 of us (all women) walking away. Was spat at & had bottles thrown at us (by men & women), and then in the car we were scared stiff someone was going to come at us with a brick or something. Police nowhere to be found.

Used to work in Birmingham so knew a few shortcuts, & managed to get out of the area quicker than most, but it was pretty scary stuff.

Also....not actually at a match but footy related

Went out in Sheffield on a Saturday night prior to Sunderland playing Norwich (I think) in a FA Cup semi at Hillsborough the following day. We were in a pub chatting with some Sunderland fans, all very friendly until we spotted a load of Sheff Utd fans coming across the road, they blocked both doors off and it completely kicked off inside the pub, glasses and chairs flying around. Only time I've ever witnessed someone getting a chair smashed across their back and suffice to say it doesn't shatter like it does in the movies!
We made our way slowly to the doors and then said to the Sheff Utd fans that we were from Sheffield just having a drink and they let us out. legging it from the pub and a chair came smashing through the window.

What had been a good night out was very tense after that with coppers all over the place and bouncers not letting groups of lads in pubs.

Suncerland at Roker Park, and penned in for 20 minutes before Wearsides finest saw fit to open the fencing, and let us sit in the stand. Can't remember the year.

    Birmingham Away In Playoffs nt

Also Wolves away during the Hendrie season me & my mate walked into the wrong boozer, my 'So-Called' mate jumped over the bar and ran off through the kitchen & out of the back door while i was set upon by about 15 of them i think i actually did a Roly-Poly through the pub doors on to the street outside.

Once i got outside & regained my composuer i saw my mate talking to PC Coleman the old intelligance copper from Barnsley who went everywhere with the reds i asked him where was safe to drink & he just said what ever you do dont go in there pointing to the boozer id just been rolled out of.

    :D :D

Never been frightened at a match.

My moto is " You don't feel pain when you are unconcious".

Another is that " The only person who will never know you are dead is yourself".

One of the worst times I have had was in the bus station in the 70s when one of SYs finest decided to charge his horse through a bus queue to disperse some Barnsley lads who were shouting at some away fans the Police were escorting to the Railway Station.
I had to drag a girl of about 6 or 7 out of the way of the Horse.

I was surprised I wasn't arrested because I gave the Copper a right load of abuse.
    Bloody lunatic he was.

    They were crap.

I seem to remember us arriving late into Birmingham & walking from close to Villa park to St Andrews on Police advice
