Redders wanted to stay but went on to play Premier League football for Charlton and Bradford. He was easily good enough to stay another 3 years for us, and that was worth much more than a million. Particularly when we wasted so much money on ***** subsequently.

If you've still got gripes about something that happened 16 years ago, there's summat wrong wi thi. Let it go.

Besides - he wanted to stay in the Prem & who could blame him after the season he had for us. he was also knocking on a bit at that stage as well (he was 33). So £1m was pretty good really.

As for the worst - well there's been plenty ... Sheron, Dave Regis, TK. The list is going to be endless.

Didn't we once give Ian Chandler a contract and the legendary Chris Hedworth.

Giving Vaz Te a one year deal the same Summer we gave Wiseman a three year deal on twice the salary.

Not getting De Zeeuw signed up back in 1999. The weakness in that side of Bassett's was replacing him with Tuttle and Brown. Scored loads, conceded plenty. Might have gone up automatically with him alongside Morgan and Chettle.

Not selling Darren Barnard to Southampton. Then eventually getting nothing for him when he went to Grimsby.

That said, had we sold him, we may never have witnessed that annihilation of Huddersfield and certainly wouldn't have seen a goal like 'that one', just a couple of days after the move broke down.

Or giving Hugo Colace a new contract after pissing us about all summer. I don't care if he got a taxi from London to renew his contract with us.

To be fair, at the time Vaz Te was a big risk. When he started to shine regularly we should have come in straight in with another offer.

    All hindsight though.

How nobody has said his name already is beyond me. 4 year contract on really good money. He was a shocker.

Redfearn wanted away. His contract was signed pre-Premier Division and included a clause to the effect that he'd get a wage cut if we were relegated whereas the players who'd signed during our season in the sun had their wages protected if we went down. My understanding is that Redders thought he'd be looked after if we went down but the Club reneged on the gentleman's agreement so when the opportunity was offered for him to move on he did.

I think we'd seen the best of Butler who was becoming injury prone before he moved.

True. I thought he was ***** for the first couple of months.

I'll go with Wiseman then, getting a contract here full stop. The gret girl.
