Trevor Kettle at home v Rotherham 05/06 had to be up there. Was shocking throughout then gave us a 94th minute equaliser that didn't cross the line. Top ref.
Gary Willard's Wiki clearly shows us as one of his career lowlights On 28 March 1998, Willard was involved in "astonishing scenes" at Oakwell Stadium after the end of the Barnsley versus Liverpool match in the Premier League, which finished 2-3. He sent off three players from the home side - Darren Barnard,Chris Morgan and Darren Sheridan - in the second half, causing play to be suspended for five minutes after Willard, having been chased by an interloper, sought refuge in the dressing room toilets. He had to be given a "police safety escort" off the pitch after the game. Willard was completely incompetent and thats putting it mildly
The bloke who ran on came from the ESL lower a few rows in front of me. Morgan's red card was ridiculous, barely a yellow. Compare it to the yellow he got for the Hume incident which definitely should have been a red.
I thought I remembered it being giving for handball but you're probably right. I think that was the game we started going downhill under Davey after a very promising start.
Anyone got a link to Wilson's interview after the Liverpool match or can anyone quote his comments? I'd love to know what he said.
That's the one, then he gave the softest penalty in the very last second after sending Foster off. Remember Ryan Shawcross nearly fighting with the East Stand that day, proper ill-tempered game.
Willard - no once else even comes close Second worst was the Kettle performance against Stoke dishonorable mentions to Rennie and D'Urso
Mike dean against leeds last year awarding that penalty for an handball 10 yards outside the box Most refs we get at the well are biased against us not just at well hamills sending of at swillsborough last season
I can't see how anyone who was at oakwell on that day wouldn't say Willard. The highlights don't even come close to showing how poor it was. He completely lost control of the game, i do believe some of our sense of injustice also came from the season long build up of downright biased refereeing we had been subject to.
