Cant believe peoples selective memory... we weren't in the bottom 3 when when the appalling decision was taken to appoint him..
That was more down to Birmingham hull and Sunderland been abysmal. We had won 2 games in 3 months under hecky before morais was appointed that sort of form sends you one way. People trying to point the finger at morais but the form we were in and the football we played under hecky we were only going one way.
Considering that Morais was as garbage as everybody says he was, and that we only went down because of the last 5 minutes in the game at Bolton... then YES of course we would have stayed up with a more professional coach like Stendel. I firmly believe he would have done similar to what Birmingham & Reading did, and keep us up with at least a game to spare.
Am I missing something here or did Moore and McBurnie actually play in the same team last season? Admittedly not up top together but still...
People were also pointing the finger at Hecky when the guy himself and me and others pointed out our recruitment wasn't good enough and that it would only lead to one thing.
We will never know for sure, But my view is its probable he would have. We are all agreed that Morais was a bad appointment - his record in clubs before he came to us was poor and nothing he did made him look like he had the makings of a good manager. Stendell seems to be a better manager - though admittedly we are now playing at a lower level. We only needed 2 more points I think we would probably have got those with any decent manager Stendell being one. Whether we could have got an extra 9 points to get us to the magic 50 and almost certain safety most seasons is a different matter entirely
Everyone in football knows that replacing a full team in one window when you’re only signing players 24 or under on one of the lowest budgets in the league was a recipe for disaster
Does anyone know whether Stendel was considered for the job at the time that Morais got it? (I seem to think that he may well have been unemployed at the time).
If Stendel hadn't kept us up he would have been sacked and consequently someone maybe less passionate appointed. Hence, would we be where we are now?
Shush you can't say that it's all morais fault who didn't have one window didnt spend more than any barnsley manager in recent history.
