Including substitute appearances? How many games did he complete? Giggs was rested on a regular basis during the early stage of his career, as were all of Manchester United's 'Golden Generation' from the 1990's. In fact, one of the reasons given at the time was Giggs' body not 'growing' properly with regards to his weight and strength in relation to his height. This brought howls of derision & mocking from the media and fans from other clubs. However, now Giggs is regarded as a much respected figure within the game, this gets conveniently forgotten.
I think its the term "resting" that gets me. If they say "ease them in" fair do. But at that age resting is the wrong term. But even with giggs. Im not sure height weight or strength would have changed the career he has had much by "easing him in". Difficult to see because no one ever has any way of seeing what would have happened if they went the other way. It's probably also why we don't have a strong international team because we have so many young players getting "rested" and not being allowed to flourish. Im waffling
I'd go along with all that, old mate. The reasons given by United at the time were plainly daft, but that's what they said. To try and claim Giggs wasn't taken out of the team on a regular basis by his club is simply wrong. On top of that, he regularly picked up 'injuries' forcing him to miss any friendly games when selected by Wales. Again, this was used to mock him when he claimed to be patriotic.
Or at least a decent right sided midfielder Jennings and Treacy haven't been much help in the games I have seen though Id almost be tempted to put Winnall there someone who would run around a lot and generally be a pain
No, we keep hearing folk complaining of the manager chopping and changing the team, so lets keep Bree at right back until he doesn`t deserve to be there, if that ever happens. No tinkering needed here in this position.
If we had another good option I'd give him a rest as he looked knackered on Tuesday. He's young so there will be nothing wrong with his fitness, but these tough physical encounters can take it out of someone still developing physically and probably still growing. In an ideal world I'd like to give him a couple of weeks to recuperate, so a weekend off between two Saturday games. However, our only other option is Brown. I don't think he's as bad a player as is being made out on here, but his recent performances have been poor. He backs off and refuses to put a tackle in. That approach is not doing him any favours, he needs to stand his ground, he needs to make a tackle, what he's doing is making himself look bad. If we pick Brown and he continues to play like he has been doing, not only will it be detrimental to the team, but I think the crowd will start to get on his back and his confidence will suffer even further. So I'd play Bree. But I say that without seeing how the two players have performed in training this week, without being able to judge their fitness, confidence and performance.
Personally I would keep bree at rb. Play rammage and brown in the centre and either drop craine (sp) or stick him in front of the back four again
