I don't think that translates necessarily. If it did, how are Luton, Blackpool and Peterborough outperforming us?

We'll be where we'll be. You never know. If someone was in charge with the priority being the first team squad and getting the best possible results at that moment, we might outperform what we've generally done in the championship (last season aside).

This is part of the problem with community ownership. Most people don’t really get how it works, and tend to start off assuming it won’t.

You're right in that I attached more weight and meaning to his comment than he intended. But the BBS doesn't tend to be the best medium for a nuanced point and I thought it a silly thing for him to say.

The best example of the point I was making is that Paul Conway has been entirely open and honest in a number of interviews with regard to how they intend to operate. He's stated in plain English that they won't sign players with no resale value and they are looking for young players they can improve and sell on at profit. There's no conspiracy about it, they've been upfront from the start in what they intended to do.

We are a player trading model though? That’s exactly what we are.

There is of course the possibility that we end up in league two with these owners. We’re virtually half way there already.

I'm OK with the model, which seems to have been in place, one way or another, for all the decades I've supported BFC.

However, what also seems to have always been in place is not getting a decent wedge for saleable assets.

Other small clubs who need to sell to survive manage to obtain decent fees; why not BFC?

Thing is, in that scenario if it really wasn't working out the fans could give up ownership. As I've said before, the key would be appointing a CEO who is accountable and knows what they're doing, that would be very important.

True, I was just going on the hypothetical question posed by the OP, 'would you rather the club be in League Two..' Presumably, the club would have plummeted to that level due to sheer negligence by our beloved board and sold everything: all key players for profit, and the club as a whole to the fans. OR, they sold it off in League 1 and the fan-owned club then got relegated to League 2. In either scenario it wouldn't be good because we would still be plummeting. We could end up like Southend. I agree an accountable CEO is very important. My comments were largely hypothetical due to the nature of the question.

Community share offers are designed to protect against that. You write in the rules that share capital can’t be sold for so long, can only be bought back by the holding company and only a certain amount of share capital can be sold each year. It’s very different from having shares in a plc
