Would you stop going if Flitcroft got the job?

I'll keep on going - I've seen far, far worse than this in the the old 4th Division days.

Yesterday's 3-5-2 formation was a refreshing change from before, and we were fully deserving of AT LEAST a point.
And you wouldn't have had greater commitment from the players (except possibly Craig Davies) even with Sir Alex Ferguson in charge.

So if Flicker can motivate and get 100% effort from players, equalling any other manager you'd care to appoint, what you're left with is tactics; is he up to it in that area? On yesterday's showing he is, and yes I know we lost!

I wouldn't write him off, his appointment would NOT stop me going, but it wouldn't upset me either if someone else got the job who was capable of keeping us up.

I think the next few weeks and who we appoint are crucial. We desperately need some positivity and a good appointment might just save our season. If Flicker gets the job I'll still go and support the team (end of season review pending) but I think we may well lose a few more fans and I can understand why. Like I said in another post, this is possibly the biggest decision Don and PC have made.

To answer the question "Would I stop going?" Not immediately as I have a season ticket. I'm not bothering with the Burnley game, decided that when the draw was made as also got an invite to a mate's 50th birthday pub crawl on Sat afternoon.
Considering not bothering with the Leeds game because I don't think I can face seeing them turn us over, but I guess I'll go.

As to whether I renew though - that comes down to a number of factors. Currently looking for a job having been made redundant and a distinct possiblility is going contracting and it could mean working away from home, so how could I justify spending Monday - Friday away from home and then coming home on a weekend and saying to the missus I was buggering off to the football? The manager doesn't really come into it, the division might.

The only manager that would keep me away is probably Blackwell, regarding the current situation I wouldn't be exactly jumping up and down, but playing the devils advocate here he wouldn't be the first no 2 to have different ideas to his boss where he had just been following orders (I presume) and he has somebody else at the side of him who will have different ideas. i wasn't there yesterday but it did sound that they reacted to the problems of the first half and introduced width and more direct attacking play (common complaint against Hill). As for anything else I can't see how we can hope for too much change without bringing in different players because you ccan't for instance sttretch the defenders we have to create extra height etc in short (pun intended) at the moment whoever is in charge is stuck with what we have.

There was far more width yesterday, with Stones and Golbourne out wide. Stones saw a lot of the ball, Golbourne less so, but it was a definite change in tactics.

I might have introduced RNL a little earlier in the 2nd half, when we were surging forward in waves of attacks, to replace Golbourne, as RNL, although not as good defensively, is more capable of beating and going past his man than Scott.

But overall it was a distinct change from Hill, and a definite improvement.

    No, definitely not

But I really don't think he should be given the manager's job. He was part of the problem, he's not the solution. If we keep Flitcroft we may as well have kept Keith Hill.

How funny would it be if he got the job and then asked the board if he could have hill as his number 2...

Abandon a friend in his hour of need.......I'll still go and cheer them on even if Flitcroft is in charge and certain relegation is to follow. It wouldn't surprise me if Flicker was given it,they gave Davy a permanant contract after losing 3 nil at home to Wednesday. Hopefully they won't give it to him, Terry Butcher that slow immobile hero of a defender might do a good job ,knows the Scottish bargain basement market . Anyone but failure Flicker .....but I'll still go if it is.

I'll keep going and support my team whoever is appointed. We've been in much worse messes than this before and I trust in Patrick to appoint the right man.

    But, what is the plan?

I expect that if we were told specifically, we would not like what we heard.

There are a lot of BBS users who have been going down Oakwell for a long, long time and that includes myself (over 35 years).
I have never been as disgruntled as I am now............and maybe I speak for a lot of others?

Nobody can fault me for putting a shift in. I've driven up and down country and even once returned from a flight back from Auckland NZ and drove straight to Oakwell to watch a 0-0 draw against Grimsby. That's a shift let mi tell thi.

If I added up how much cash I have spent on BFC, that would also be a few shifts.

Vast majority of supporters have to work to earn money to then spend on what they so wish; some spend it on BFC other spend it at Meadowhall, etc.

Current situation at BFC both on and off the field is dire..............and that is why this appointment needs to be one that galvanizes all parties ie. playing staff, supporters, investors, admin staff, etc.

No, nose and face etc. But I want a clean sweep, with an experienced manager.

And that got us a fantastic win!! ........Oh wait a minute, we left the most dedicated player we have at home with his kids, we wanted pace and agility, yet played the statue of McNulty, we put them under pressure and deserved to win. Did we **** deserve to win, because to win you have to score more goals and concede less goals. The players which HILLCROFT have signed , while they may be hard working and put a shift, are in the main not of sufficient QUALITY. Something that wont change if we still have half the bloody problem still in charge.

    Move on !!

Hehe, you're a little tinker. Four weeks is long time in football and this post demonstrates that perfectly.
