Obviously I'd like promotion even if we ended up like Sheffield United are this season because it would set us up financially and we would be in a great position. But let's not get carried away.
Not so sure myself. Which ever way you look at it the owners aren't here because they love the town & football club, they are investors. Right now our hopes and dreams are aligned (for different reasons), but if we ever reach the Prem & that money becomes available I think we would see it disappear overseas fairly quickly. Not saying I blame them, but I don't think they would take a long term view at that point.
First off I don’t think we’re anywhere near good enough to go up. I don’t think the sides even as good as the Hill & Heckingbottom sides that got broken up in the January transfer windows. We’ve edged poor Wycombe & Wednesday sides & beat a Preston side missing two key players coming off a 3-0 defeat. I’ll always take 3 wins in a row, it’s great but I don’t think it means we’re anything special. Of course I’d take a season like the Blades are having. It would set us up for a long time. I don’t know if people are watching their games but they’ve only really had two bad performances against Chelsea & Southampton. They’ve been in every other game & outplayed a few sides but for whatever reason it’s not going their way. I wouldn’t even rule it out that they could stay up. There’s still 75 points to play for & all of West Brom, Fulham, Burnley & Brighton look really poor to me.
They've got 1 point. No way can they stay up. I wouldn't want to go up and lose every game, I'd want us to stand a chance.
It’s obviously bad but they finished in the top half last season, they’ve only played 13 games & there’s four really poor sides within 10 points of them. Add to that they’ve just got their best player Fleck back fit & I would say they still have a chance. If they were getting hammered every week then it’s a different story but I’m a bit like Ally McCoist was the other night watching them in that he was baffled how they’ve got so few points.
I watched the game and tbh didn't want them to let Manure win but they were second best in all areas.
Tough call Helen, agree I wouldn’t want us to go up and struggle to compete and become the modern Swindon. But do recognise the impact the revenue earned would do for the future of the club.
Agree, we will do well to finish where we are this season, don’t think we will be in a relegation battle either. Unless we sign a couple of top quality ready to go players in Jan, then you never know.............
Yes of course because while we are up there these owners can make a significant profit on their investment sell up and leave our crown jewels playing at Oakwell instead of somewhere else.
