Looks like American Chris Kirchner is going to buy the club & ground for £50 million. Expected to pass fit and proper test and is negotiating for final points deduction to be ‘reasonable’. Also expected to inject cash for new players in January. On flip side Wycombe owner has confirmed his lawyers are chasing Quantuma( administrators) with a bill believed to be in £6 million region.
They're only three points behind us, and appealing the 12 point deduction, probably to act as a delaying tactic on further deductions. Can easily see us finishing below Derby, given their current results and expected recruitment in Jan under new owners. Not sure I can name three other clubs we can finish above?
Well at this moment in time there isn't three worse teams, whether we will improve enough to change that remains to be seen.
I am only guessing but could it be the TV money Wycombe lost by getting wrongly relegated at Derby"s expense
We aren't cut adrift yet. The league is that bad that after a third of a season we're only 3 points behind 21st. If we can get to Christmas with about 28 points we'll be fine. I really think the last twenty v Sheff Utd might be a turning point.
That’s 20 points from 9 games, 10 if you include Boxing Day. Can’t see it myself. The 2 goals might help with Iseka and Cole’s confidence, but we’ll continue to concede goals that follow the same pattern for as long as Schopp is head coach
We were more direct in the right areas too. It's the first time with Cole and Iseka we've ran at defences this season. Up to then the approach play has been too static. They were rubbish for the first 70 minutes but when we started pressing Brittain and Styles got in on the act as well. Hondermarck looks to get forward and is quite silky on the ball.
Derby will finish above us based on how we have played all season. 1 win in 15 and the board are sticking with the worst manager in a long time.... give us a chance schopp out.
They might do but I don't think this is a relegation team. Even with the injuries the right 11 picks up points and wins matches. That's what's frustrated me the most. I was lamenting the loss of Benson until I saw Hondermarck play. I missed Romal Palmer until I saw Gomes etc. Cole has had stick but he gets a chance to play and he eventually scores. Same with Iseka.
I think our two goals on Saturday papered over the cracks a bit. Jokanovic has built a reputation of trying to get the lead, then doing everything he can to defend it. United scored twice in quick succession on Sunday, and quite clearly took the foot off the gas. The 3rd goal was a breakaway whilst we were over committed. They invited much more pressure onto themselves in that final half an hour than they would have had we still been level. Prior to them taking the lead, we'd had very few sights of goal, and certainly no clear cut chances for any of our strikers. It's not too much of a surprise that we managed to find our way through eventually with the bodies we had in and around the box. Take our 2nd goal for example, Woodrow, Gomes, Hondermarck and Iseka all had touches of the ball within 25 yards of goal. Cole and Styles were also in the penalty area, and Brittain started the move with a throw in. We wouldn't have been afforded so many players in the box, had Sheffield Utd not got a 2 goal lead.
Maybe we just need to give players freedom to get forward from the off. We can't get less points than we have in the last 6. The tentative style of the first half will just result in defeat after defeat.
I can't help thinking we've had starts like this before and something usually clicks around November time. I fancy us to win 5 and lose 4 of our next nine league games. That would leave us with 23 points going into boxing day.
I admire your optimism mate, I really do. That said 28 points by Xmas is a big ask. Let us all hope that the last 20 minutes against Sheff U are indeed a turning point
You fancy us to follow 6 straight losses with 9 unbeaten? Thats next level optimism. I’d say 3 wins and 3 draws is the absolute max we would get, even with a new coach
Absolutely, and a lot of that begins with the team selection. Hondermarck and Iseka on particular look like good finds. The manager needs to trust them, and not continue to shoehorn players in the team out of position. Whilst Moon came close to scoring 3 times on Sunday, he's not a central midfielder. I get this weird feeling that Frieser will be dropped on Saturday and Oduor back in, despite both Cole and Iseka scoring on Sunday.
