I expect us to get beat. We’re poor at home & also seem to struggle with the conditions when there’s strong wind. I hope we put up a decent display that justifies me going to the match over watching the darts
I’d take that. I just hope I’m not sat piss wet through in the wind watching us get beat thinking I wish I was at home nice & warm watching Van Gerwen - Rydz. I think we’re more than capable of beating them. They were the better side at their place but they didn’t look a class above.
They have gone from 4 4 2 to playing 3 5 2 in recent games and I would expect that formation again today. They will probably push both Brunt and McLean against O'Keeffe to keep him quiet after his Man of the Match show at Peterborough. I don't know if we would start Cotter, or Gent at left back - probably better with the extra pace of Cotter to start with, but they will probably double up against our left wing back as well. All that means that we might have some joy going direct through the middle against them, especially if we run at them through there. Step up Phillips, Connell and Russell, with a definite place for Nwakali to come on and control the game later. It is less windy which should help the game in general. They tend to play long-ball to their two strikers, chosen from Palmer, Mullin and Fletcher, so our back three need to be ready for a bombardment, but Pines wins a lot in the air. Let's hope that Mael and McCarthy can do the same. The Peterborough game was exactly what Clarke promised us - front-foot, attacking football and we need more of the same today, but we may need to be patient. The last thing to do would be to resort to hoof-ball, because Wrexham are set up to counter that. Keep it on the deck. Neat trangles of moves. Plenty of running into space, especially between the back three and middle five and we should be okay. COYR
I can see us getting atleast 1, as for the 0 bit..... unlikely as we've only managed that against Rovrum, Shrewsbury and Crawley. Wrexham will be a bit tougher. I'm going 2-2
After the last few results and performances I'd be confident of a good home performance against most teams in the league today but not Wrexham. The way they play from what I have seen just don't suit us, especially at home. They will play a low block, let us have ball and spring quick counter attacks and put a lot of crosses into big lads in box.
Imho....looks a draw. Wrexham are a very effective side with an excellent defence. They have lots of 30 plus players who do efficient jobs, they are not attractive to watch or play fluid football. I think the conditions will suit them better, with long balls from the back. I'm hoping we can get the ball down and play some decent footy but I feel the weather may not let us. Oh yea and we are shocking at home with defenders who make lots of mistakes.
5000 according to the totally impartial sky commentator. He said so several times though changed the wording 2nd half to allocated 5000 My first thought looking at the stand was around 3000 so I wasn’t far out
I was talking to some of there fans on way to ground who were telling me they had sold out. I didn't think they had or it would have gone all ticket. Thought they would have sold more than 2900 though.
Thank you BFC no one is more happy with our result today than me and my son. He’s got some bragging rights when he gets back to school next week
Had a spell in 2nd half where they made some noise. The fans I spoke to told me they haven't spent much apart from a 600k signing from West brom who struggles for games. Most of the squad is ageing mullins, Fletcher, McLean... no assets as such.
