Yes it is but it's a little confusing because they published a summary of their accounts the other day and it didn't really tally up with that. There are I think 15 episodes a year so at even £400k £6m right? Yet they published this... In the season where promotion was achieved by both the Men’s and Women’s senior teams, Turnover for the year was £10.478m (2022: £5.972m) with the loss increasing to £5.113m (2022: £2.913m). Income was increased across the board, with the most significant with our retail operation reaching £3.430m (2022: £1.303m) and Sponsorship / Advertising rising to £1.883m (2022: £1.053m). The increase in Football revenue £1.314m (2022: £0.531m) can be attributed to our success in the FA Cup. The payroll of the Club increased to £6.9058m (2022: £4.050m). The amount owed to The R.R. McReynolds Company, LLC at the year-end was £8.977m (2022: £3.714m). The financial losses suffered by the Club since the takeover shouldn’t be repeated, with income generated by the Club now sufficient to meet the operational costs of the Club going forward. These losses were deemed necessary to allow the Club to maximise its full potential in the shortest time practically possible. The Club is under no immediate pressure to repay these loans at the expense of the progress we seek to achieve and further financial support will be provided/secured to support the capital expenditure projects the Club is currently planning, which includes increasing the capacity of The Racecourse Ground and the development of a training facility for all the Club’s teams. The year-on-year income comparisons since the takeover, show the potential of the Club. These will significantly increase again for the year ending June 30, 2024, following promotion and the continued popularity of Welcome to Wrexham.
I’m calling it that because I don’t know how it works. I don’t know who makes the documentaries or how the money is distributed. I’ve never even watched one. All I know is that without these people being in charge it wouldn’t be happening, so wether the owners are putting in moneys or have created another revenue stream it has obviously given them a massive advantage at the last two levels they’ve played at. itll be good to see how fair we all think it is if they’re flying up towards the championship next season.
Fired - thanks. I looked up some figures - 30% of people living in Wales speak the language. 13% of Wrecsam folk speak Welsh. (In my home town Merthyr Tydfil a mere 9%.) In Gwynedd 77% are Welsh speakers. Act of Union of England and Wales 16th Century the laws and and language of England imposed on Wales. All official business done in English. Place names changed and given English names. In my grandmother's time Welsh was forbidden to be spoken in schools. Gradually Welsh went into a decline, One of the consequences of the establishing of the Welsh Senedd in 1999 was that legislation was passed to protect the language - Welsh finally made an official language in 2011. As a result all official documents available in both English and Welsh - births marriages and deaths can be recorded in Welsh - legal papers available in both languages. Place names are reverting to the original Welsh name. To pick up @SuperTyke's point - in the next couple of years we will probably see 'Wrecsam' on the club logo/badge etc. There is also growing pressure on the Senedd to pass legislation where the name of the country should be 'Cymru' and the word 'Wales' not used. (The situation in Northern Ireland has many parallels with the above - place names changed to English and even today the Irish language is not taught in school.) 'Yma o Hyd' - the brilliant unofficial football anthem which translates to 'We (the Taffs) are still here' was written by Dafydd Iwan who was imprisoned in the 1970's for protesting about the poor status of the Welsh Language. COYR - we may well be off to Abertawe and Caerdydd next season!
Thanks for that. Interesting read, especially the bit about losing money to maximise potential in a short time - sounds remarkably familiar doesn’t it?
We haven’t been there for about 20 years so new ground for many, and I don’t think we’ve ever won there in our history.
https://www.11v11.com/teams/wrexham/tab/opposingTeams/opposition/Barnsley/ Same number of wins for both clubs. Only played there twice in my lifetime. Lots of people will want to cross it off for the 92 Club.
I’ll be in be one of them, but I also want to throw **** parcels in some gardens, just to piss Dragon off.
How are they gaming the system? They’ve gained fans oversees because of who their owners are and that’s led to more revenue. Just jealousy to suggest it’s anything else imo.
They started pumping in money before that revenue materialised. They had a loss of £5.1m in the conference. That's nuts. Or maybe I'm just racist.
It’s putting money in to maximise profits quickly from guaranteed revenue sources. A lot different to putting money in gambling for promotion.
To me that’s no different to a club being popular because of their location. They have a lot of fans and that obviously leads to more income.
Your previous post implied it was organic - more fans so more revenue which resulted in more investment. When actually it was just pumping in money.
