The tykes target challenge is truly awful (my new buzz saying) First thing, it ain't a target challenge and hasn't been since we got rid of those wooden targets. It's now a hastily arranged, poorly organised penalty shoot out that leave away dads thinking WTF Get rid of this **** next season and get shut of that slap nut announcer, he's rubbish and embarrassing. Also the "we are barnsley we are stronger together" is dreadful screamed down pa
Half price season ticket for 2 people. More chances to win. Had other ideas like: Free raffle ticket with every pint or meal deal. Entered into next home game draw for free ST buy 5 home match day tickets, get an away ticket free. Season ticket draw, upgrade to executive box for a match. Half price away shirt with every NEW OR LAPSED season ticket. Players adopt a school and visit once a month. Just random thoughts.
Can we have strippers please and a live band every home game. Bit like a condensed Super Bowl halftime
I'm not sure how much of this we do, but yes!!! Bradford Bulls come into our school regularly to do assemblies and the like. They've just spent 2 afternoons with my class, before the holidays, teaching them all about how to be healthy and they're coming back to do a practical session with them some time next month. They're also giving them all a free ticket to a match (which I didn't know about, and will now have to supervise *groan*). They are also going to do a Sport's Day type thing with the whole school in the last half term. It doesn't even have to be specifically the players, they have an education department that go into schools too under the Bradford Bulls name. The lady talked about how to keep the heart healthy, name dropped a few players as they need healthy hearts, and showed them a vid or two of them playing and asked the kids to names which muscles are being used etc. It doesn't have to be big giveaways either, they could do a competition (anything, colouring comps are always popular and really easy) and the kid could win a free ticket with some runner ups getting a goody bag. Just giving away one ticket wouldn't break the bank, but the school would be talking about it for however long the comp lasted. It certainly works with Hollywood Bowl who are always doing comps at our school for little prizes. If they wanted to get them really excited give them a free shirt or football (maybe signed)? These comps could also go on before the match at the ground, but then would obviously only really reach the kids who are there, before it spread via word of mouth. Kids are the way in. I went to a match with school and have been a firm fan ever since.
I like him but when he refers to us as the Super Reds i'm thinking Liverpool are coming out for the second half.
FROM HULL KR THIS YEAR IN THE SUPER LEAGUE (RUGBY LEAGUE) 'New for the 2014 season and limited to just 100 packages per game (400 tickets) in the new 'family zone' in the North Stand, you can purchase a family ticket for £50 (a £30 saving vs. buying the tickets individually on a matchday). This entitles you to two adult tickets and two under 16 tickets. The new Family Zone is a dedicated area for families and includes FREE face painting, Rufus the Robin appearances and FREE prize giveaways' I know we are doing a family season ticket, but I'd also do it match by match which is something that was started at my club Hull KR in the super league this year - it would be a good idea for us in our east stand!! I wouldn't limit it to 400 tickets though like at Hull KR, just as many as are wanted really. We can't afford to turn ANYONE away, now more than ever!!! As prices at Hull KR are similar to Barnsley, I'd keep the price similar, certainly no more, but I'd also make it so that you can buy this ticket right up until kick-off from the box office to allow late decisions when family's might just decide late in the day. Actually, I'd make it either £45 or £49, it looks more attractive than £50 As I'm the mascot at Hull KR myself (Rufus the Robin) I've been heavily involved in our new north stand this season, and make my appearance under the concourse 1 hour before kick-off. We have face painters in which the kids love. HKR and paintings of Rufus are popular on the kids faces. I am given a couple of bags from the club full of giveaways. Things like teddies from the shop, key rings, Rufus tattoo's, mini rugby balls etc. But the kids just love seeing Rufus and getting photo's, something that money can't buy. I loved seeing Toby and the mascots at rugby when I was a kid......still do at 29 :> I always try & get around the entire ground during match-day, I make a point of visiting the mascots around 2.30 and we look around the changing rooms when the players are warming up, we then pass the ball around on the pitch before leading the team out together at kick-off. I stay out all game and stay pitch side going mental up and down the pitch 100 at mph, I come off at the end sweating like mad and lose about half a stone lol. But it's worth it to interact with the crowd and get them going. It's harder for Toby in football as goals aren't as frequent as try's to celebrate, and games can be flat sometimes, in rugby something is always happening, big hits and points every few minutes. The other thing I've done on a match-day is a big entrance from time to time. The crowd love this and it's really funny. I even arrived via helicopter last season, something I arranged myself through family/friends at no cost at all. I've come in driving a golf buggy, a replica only fools and horses car, real cars, convertibles etc, all at no cost, just as favors through friends, or given company's free adverts in the programme & had the name read out over the PA!!! I do my own entrance music and throw giveaways into the crowd which I've bought for myself after raising money. From raising money I've then paid for and had made Rufus calendars, wrist bands, Rufus Masks, sold them and recycled the money to keep been able to do other things and buy giveaways. A bit of hard work and creative thought can afford big costs!! I've spent hours driving round locally delivering things in my own time, had friends help make & order things & distribute, but it's all worth while!! Sorry for rambling on......just giving some ideas for match-day interaction. Get Toby in via a helicopter :> Maybe Rufus could come join him for a game or 2 and we could travel in together in style once or twice ;>
Same here, how can we claim to be a community club whilst leeching money out of town and its surrounding areas. Not just snap but club shop too.
It would be nice if it were int middle of pitch for all to see rather than just in front of exec boxes, not that the penalty shoot out is the answer like.
Exactly. We should also look into the idea given on here years ago for Hound For A Pound where we have a section you can bring your dog to the game in for a quid per canine. Also give reev a matchday programme page of tips to back for the coming week before others get on the bets and the odds shorten.
As part of the family stand work that The Trust did last season at the request of Don we had architects plans drawn up to create an enclosed family area at north end of the East STand. The famly area will now be upstairs. It would make for a cracking pre-match bar though. Wouldn't cost the earth to build either!
Id tell him to piss off. When he learns how to control a sprinkler properly THEN he can start calling the shots
We (The Supporters' Trust) gave this presentation to the club at our first meeting with Ben. Its related to Family experience but ties in with what you are talking about. http://www.slideshare.net/g4lly/family-experience-at-oakwell It's work done at the request of Don and as I mentioned elsewhere we also have architects plans for an area that we wanted to build as part of a family zone in the East Lower. It would make a fantastic bar though and the architect who did the work even suggested that a local builder who are Barnsley fans might even help with the building of the area. The family stand will now be in the East Upper and we have a meeting with Ben next week to discuss taking that further. Would be interested to hear what your suggestions are and if any of them can be incorporated in plans for next season.
well that seems reasonable, I suppose the current location has been strategically chosen because the ball never touches that portion of the field as it is bypassed entirely by our left backs favourite pass
Current announcer is Dave clayton Used to be my football manager ha ha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
