    PS3 is a BluRay player

Also it is constantly updated preventing it going out of date as quickly as dedicated Blu ray players. Maybe a reason to buy?

    Ive got both

and I dont turn the xbox on at all. The games for PS3 have got better and the graphics are amazing.

With it also having a blue ray player means that it is future proof as someone mentioned above, and is a good buy for the long term. Im sure that in 2 years as gaming machines they'll be out of date - but the PS3 will still be useful in 4 years plus.

    £25 for a year

of superbly implemented online gaming, DLC and tons of other gubbins. Not a lot, really.

Blue ray I predict will not be the way forward for long at all. Microsoft have something up their sleeves hence them not being bothered about fighting for their version standard. Online experience will be the way forward with full games content being obtained rather than using the disc, this will be either streamed with the ever increasing broadband speeds or d/loaded onto hard drive for play... Don't fall into the trap of investing heavily in blue ray.

But its not investing heavily when compairing Xbox to PS3/Blue Ray prices. New Releases of DVD are now on Blue Ray and will continue to do so.

Anything MS will do will be 2 years away - and will likely at first release be full of faults - not many savvy people buy version 1 of anything MS. So call it 3 years.

I really hope that downloading everything isn't the way forward. Gone will the days of computer shops like Game etc as there will be nowt for them to open for apart from console sales. Taking a game to your mates wont work either if he doesn't have the game. Then what happens if your hard drive fails? Fair enough you might be able to download them again free, but think of how long that may take as well as all the inconvenience.

Long live hard media. Discs, cartridges, umd's whatever.
