    PS3 - easy

Free online content, built in blu-ray, more reliable, catalogue of games grows every month and is superb, plus the classic PS3 controller just cannot beaten. Watch out for the added costs on the X-Box - Microsoft just want to tap you up for everything.

    Bum advice I'm afraid...

    Stick with the consoles kids.

Does your console take over an hour to boot, making sure its features are straight? No.
Does your console ask you to rate its games and then refuse to run when you say they're just okay? No.
Does your console refuse to load after you've been playing on your mate's console? No.
When you choose your console because it says on the box that it likes to go online, link up with other consoles and have a damn good multi-player time, does it then go through with it once you've got it home? Yes.

No mate, stick the best 3 in your basket and give it a try. Ignore the price it says online as it says that 'the discount is calculated in-store'.

    360 everytime

ps3 while more powerful and having blu-ray is for fan boys and doesn't have the exclusivity rights that the 360 does on games

    PS3 all the way

there both good, i have played both consoles, but the PS3 just has better quality graphics especially when in HD, alot clearer than the XBOX

you have to also take into acount how much you fork out for the XBOX after you have bought it, internet over the years for example and it will only get worse....where PS3 has free online....i know people say XBOX live is better but personally i think the PS3 online is challenging...i went on the XBOX live on fifa 10 and it was so easy its like are they noobs it was that easy but totally diffferent on the PS3

PS3 all the way you money is well spent

    :)

    Here's my thoughts -
There's not a lot to choose between the 2. Because of this anyone i just considered my own personal circumstances and how I would use the machine and what for. I came to the conclusion that PS3 is the console for me because -
    1. I'm tight. XBOX Live is better than Sony's online offering but that doesn;t mean sony's is bad as it's more than adequate. Over the expected lifetime of the console I would expect to have paid mcrosoft more than I would sony for the hardward and online access.
    2. I love Blue Ray movies so to get a blue ray play thrown in and a quality one at that was a major bonus.
    3. It links up to my PSP over the net so me or the kids can watch a movie stored on the HDD while we're out and about.
    4. It has all the games I want to play.
    5. It's build qulity is better.
    6. I prefer the controllers.
    7. It links up to my home network so I can steam every bit of media I have into the front room with my lovely TV and full surround sound.
    8. Forget Sky anytime. BBC Iplayer is now on the PS3 giving you access to untold BBC programs and it works a treat too.
    9. I have more friends with a PS3 than I do XBox which should be a consideration for anyone choosing between the 2 as it's more fun playing online with people you know and like.
    10. I have loads of PS1 & 2 games which I still play (less so now there are loads of quality PS3 games) and the early PS3 models are backward compatible.

    RE: PS3 all the way

must just be me then haha!

i agree much with fentyke comparing them its more about your needs

can anyone answer me this...does the XBOX have to be wired to the internet and then the PS3 has it built in wireless...you can buy XBOX wireless but again its money out of your pocket, and same with the internet for it after a while you end up paying more for XBOx than ps3

Hmm, I'd beg to differ. I'd rank it a comfortablefourth behind the 360 and both versions of the GC controller - cabled and wavebird. Feels very lightweight and plasticky.

    i agree

and like i said, i've had my ps3 just over a month now and the controllers nackered, just like the ps2 controller.

good point on iPlayer though, good addition that, and the internet browser. but then again, i have a computer next to both consoles so i don't need to use these features.

you can connect both 360 and PS3 to your network using an ethernet (wired) connection

I'm still on my first controller.

Went through about 5 on the Xbox though, not to mention two broken consoles, despite the fact I hardly used it.

Everybody will have a different experience and opinion of either console. Some people seem to think because they have one, they have to slate the other, a bit like supporting a football team really. Get which ever appeals to you the most, or if you have a fair few mates with one console, then get that and you'll probably enjoy it more online. I've had both of them and much prefer the PS3, so I recommend that.

    RE: PS3 all the way

Yes you'd have to be buy a wireless adapter, but not everybody wants wireless so why add it to the build and charge for it. Simularly multimedia card adapters and a BluRay movie player. Great if you need em. Expensive if you don't.

The PS3 is definitly feature rich, but when it came out, you had to be rich to get the features.

I wanted something that did what it was designed to do - Play Games.

i have both so am in a position to compare...

and i still say ps3 would miles better even if it didn't have blu ray.

exclusive titles on xbox such er halo and gears. halo went down hill after the first one on the original xbox.

    resistance on ps3 is better

ps3 has better graphics, better controllers. and your not in constant worry that its gonna go tits up any minute with rrod
