All that means is that each point and each goal is worth less this season than last. Because for all the extra points and goals, we're still lower down the table.

It must also mean that there's more strength in depth using that logic?

Last year we had less points and were better positioned - pointing to a tiny cluster of top teams.

This year we've more points and are in a lower league position - pointing to more good teams.

Not a negative but we really have to start picking up points against the sides above/around us hopefully beating stevenage will have given us abit of confidence. We have posh, Stevenage, Oxford and Bolton all coming up soon those games will define our season.

The top teams this season are much worse than last season, which is clearly illustrated by the teams this season accumulating more points

Barnsley are much worse this season than last season which is clearly illustrated by this year's team scoring more goals and accumulating more points.

    In conclusion, Collins out.

To be fair I can't see points tallies top teams achieved last season - Wednesday had 95 was it and didn't go up automatically

I guess there'll be different ways to look at it. But generally, where there's strength somewhere in the table, something has to give elsewhere. My hunch is (and that is all it is) is that the middle third of the league was stronger last season, with teams like Lincoln not really threatening to get promoted but being notoriously difficult to beat.

But ultimately, we are lower down the table. Of course, postponed matches does skew things slightly, and to be fair, it would be very difficult to improve when losing your captain (twice) and having your best midfielder ill for a fair while at the start of the season.

A lot will depend on whether we're prepared to take the financial hit next summer of losing Cole, Kane and Williams on free transfers. I'd hazard a guess not and I expect movement in January both in and out. Where this season differs is anyone coming in during January needs to be "oven ready".

I reckon Kane is on a wage that other clubs wouldn't be willing to give him, unless they get him on a free. Cole, Williams and Cadden might be a different story.

Can't see anyone coming in being "oven ready". Our budget won't stretch to somebody that is experienced, proven, and match fit.

If the budget is so tight we can't afford to let players walk for nowt either.

Interesting game tonight, Peterborough are a real promotion contender, so if we have aspirations of promotion this season then we need to start picking up points against these sides. A draw would be a good result tonight.

Either way we need to strengthen in January & get rid of the deadwood.

I agree the football can be dull I just think it’s for the right reasons because we’ll get ripped a new one if he exposes the back 3.

He’s tried not to mention it but I’ve noticed for the first time he’s talked about us lacking physicality at the back. It’s a tough one because he can tell all the fans the issues effecting our style of play & he might not get as much grief but at the same time he’d be telling the rest of the league our problem.

But why are we lower down, people keep comparing us to last year, the facts are after 22 games we have more points, more goals and less defeats yet keep telling us we are poor?

We are worse off though. Stats don't lie.

How? What are the stats that show us as worse?
Is it just the one of the league table?
Could that just be that as Fonzie said the league is more even?

Not doing a last season comparison as it dunt affect this season, just a assessment of how I see it and that is were in a good position to be "the" team that kicks on and storms up the league. Can't see us getting owt tonight but January could make our season..I've had my negative moments on here this season but still crossing everything and hoping that we can do it..COYR

Ultimately its the only stat that matters if you want promotion. Points and wins change from year to year but League position doesn't unless you expand of lower the number of teams in each division. Ultimately the top two go up automatically and third to sixth Play-Off for promotion. Finishing seventh gets you nothing.

But you can’t use a stat like that until the season is over, until all the games have been played, so many scenarios around who you have played, home and away, players out etc that can skew such a stat.

If we win our games in hand I'll have been talking rubbish. I accept that. I hope I am talking rubbish.
