Goughie must be taking a substantial pay cut for a thankless job. Also how can an MK Dons supporter be our top dog ???
I can see the attraction for the new regime at Yorkshire. Bring in someone from Yorkshire who didn't fit the established elitist system and prospered in spite of it. I don't know what the full responsibilities of the director of cricket are, but I'm sure he'll fit the immediate remit. I'd be surprised if he's still doing it in 5 years.
McGrath to join as Head Coach. Personally I would have preferred a complete departure and looked for coaching experience - this seems like jobs for the boys again. I assume McGrath didn't hear any racist abuse either?
They would struggle to get Legal Aid now to support their case (Tory changes), and taking a claim forward could potentially cost them a lot of money - even if they win.
I for one think it's a fantastic appointment. No matter what people's opinions of DG are he's got YCCC at heart. Vastly experienced and will take no s h 1 t. Don't envy his new role btw but he'll no doubt give it his all and try and turn around a totally rudderless ship. Good luck to him.
can see where you are coming from, Yorkshire through and through, successful international good profile , surely we could have found someone more suitable!
Average radio presenter, no experience in role, never had owt to do with Yorkshire for years and other week wanted Barnsley managers job. Suppose you would have accepted that then an all. And yes they could have found someone much more suitable.
That was my first thought if I'm honest. Hopefully there arent any skeletons in the closet - the club needs a completely fresh start.
After giving it some thought, I think it should prove a good appointment ! He is employed until end of next year to “sort it “ so can anyone think of anyone better ?
Moxon?? Someone who joined the club as a young lad, come through the ranks knowing what the job entailed, that Moxon?? or someone who made his choice when he retired from cricket and became a …………….radio presenter, not too bothered about Yorkshire then was he. The job should have been advertised, whether anyone would have been interested though is another question.
It's an interim appointment, so I hope it is properly advertised but good on Goughie for stepping up imo. So what that he wanted to do other stuff, broadening his horizons isn't necessarily a bad thing.
