Watters should really be first name on the team sheet by now, the fact that he’s more of a squad player between Him, Cosgrove & Mcatee speaks volumes. All 3 aren’t doing enough stake their claim alongside Cole.

The state of journalism in England. Embarrassing and pathetic all at the same time. The journalist should really be at the Daily Mail.

I was sat behind the dugout for that. Keith hill told him to get on the exercise bike for ten minutes. I remember wondering if it would hold up under the strain. Mido was knacked before he even went on the pitch. He takes the crown of worst player. All the hype for 5 minutes. I always thought there was something about hill that reminded me of Brian potter. I could imagine him having a right go at mido. Put him in the Pennine suite and get him a kebab

Poorly written English article including one of our home grown centre backs who’d make the top 100 Barnsley players in the modern era- utter garbage from the Yorkshire post.

I'd make my own list from the last 20 years, but life's too short

A lot said the same about Cole when we resigned him and even in the first half of last season.
    Remember Alex Mowatt?
Played about 400 mins in his first half season and then sent out to Oxford on loan, he didn’t do too bad given time.

Cole has been more of a consistent finisher in his career than Watters, Mowatt had been class as a young un at Leeds even won their player of the year one season.

Cole certainly hasn't been a more consistent finisher in his career, not until now. Watters is much more consistent goal scoring-wise at his age than Cole was.

I don’t think that’s true, Watters only has a purple patch at Crawley and a okay loan spell at MK Dons (both 6 months) before us and we’ve seen how he’s performed here.

End of the day, the hard truth is that the kid is toss and we’ve spunked a decent sized fee on him that would’ve been better spent elsewhere.

Thing is though mate, hindsight is a wonderful thing, any player we sign is going to be a risk, we’re not in an enviable position where we can buy proven strikers, folk were calling Cole toss last season, I don’t think Watters will come good (hope the lad proves me wrong) but I also understand why given our financial situation why we’d take a punt on him.

No hindsight was needed for Watters, we knew last season he wasn’t good enough.

In our financial situation we shouldn’t be wasting £300K+ on bad players especially when there were good players going for less.

If we extended his contract after last season then I agree,

I find it absolutely incredible that anybody who watched Adie Moses play for us that he’d feature in any ‘worst player’ list whatsoever. He is surely more likely to feature in a top 100 than a bottom 100; and a bottom 20 odd? Absolutely ridiculous - and actually offensive.

I’ve no idea who they polled for that but I can probably think of 29 worse centre backs, never mind players; and in the last 20 years or so too, never mind all time.

    Really? Cole more consistent?
Aside of one spell at Fleetwood & Motherwell his stats were poor.
At the same age as Watters is now his goal ratio was around 1-6, which is where Watters is now.
Just give the lad a chance, if he don’t make it then fine but not after a handful of games.
Mowatt came here and people were excited due to his proven pedigree but people quickly swapped to fat, lazy spoilt etc and were glad to see him go to Oxford.

It’s a ridiculous list really as there are a number of players I can think of who were terrible, yet Moses, Bahre (didn’t rate him in the Championship but did a job in league 1) are somehow listed.

Obbi Oulare should top the list, & to be fair to Frimpong he at least had one good game for us that I can remember, so should be further down the list.

Handful of games? He’s almost had a full year to prove himself.
