So @Indie Red DM's me to ask me why I've said that, explain i think hes being disrespectful and as a result I get told to go **** myself. Charming... Oh and then threatens me
Kayode Odejayi for one. I don't think Watters has shown himself to be the answer and would like Cosgrove to be given a proper go but the way you pick and choose stats is ridiculous.
Andy Liddell scored 34 in 198 games - many as substitute. That's around 1 in 6. And he wasn't that popular with the fans at the time. Left us to become Wigan's all time top scorer. John MacDonald scored 20 in 94 games - 1 in 5. Darren Foreman 8 in 47 - 1 in 6. Iain Hulme 9 in 51 - 1 in 5 Isaish Rankin 8 in 46 - 1 in 6 Chris Dagnall 6 in 53 - 1 in 8. Mike Sheron 33 in 152 - 1 in 5. David Currie 12 in 77 second spell - 1 in 6. Steve Cooper 13 in 77 - 1 in 6. 1 in 5/6 is traditionally a decent return for a striker playing for us. Only a rare few have got above that - Shipperley, Biggins, Currie (1st spell), Cole, Dyer. Watters might not be the answer, but 6 in 34 isn't bad for a Barnsley striker.
Just block him mate. Some people just can't help but to act childish when they don't get their way or their opinion isn't agreed with.
Most of those were in a division higher though. Often better to judge with your eyes, rather than stats. For example, Trevor Aylott got around 1 in 4 for us, whereas Colin Walker, around the same time, got 1 in 2. Which of those players gets on more ‘all time Reds XI’ lists? Edit - Colin Walker was great too, mind. Shame he wasn’t with us longer.
I'd say that at L1 level we ought to be able to afford one in three goals per game strikers as long as we're in funds like when we signed Winnall. The problem is that Conman squandered the transfer fund and set us back five years. I wish we'd signed Alfie May though. Maybe if Micky Longhaul had stayed we might have.
Mike Sheron.....now he was a waste of money. I remember reading an article on the then new QPR chairman who said he had done two essential pieces of business when taking over, getting rid of vinny jones and getting rid of sheron
There was pressure on Sheron to begin with though, as the Ashley Ward budget was spent/wasted on him. And he had players like Dyer and Hignett to carry him.
Adie Moses! He was a class act. Do they not remember this goal? Magic Mike (Bahre) did ok whilst he was here. Frimpong, Shea, Burton and Mannone should have been way up on that list
I'll say it now. In my opinion signing watters on loan last season and playing him as often as we did, splitting up the excellent partnership of cole and Norwood that tore Sheffield Wednesday a new one was a large reason as to why we lost momentum at the very end and failed to go up. Likewise signing and playing tedic so often.
