They're all very good, though Their particular style of humour make Monty Python look like The Krankies.
Good call on Steven Wright. Absolute genius. Hysteria 3, hosted by Ruby Wax in the early 90's. Introduced me to Stephen Wright, then Eddie Izzard followed him out and did his 'brought up by wolves' routine. Izzard still tops it for me, but more through sentiment I guess, as he hasn't focused much effort into standup lately.
But Denis Leary just nicked Bill Hicks act in its entireity Was it like watching the same show twice so you can spot the bits you missed first time?
Easy. It's either Don O'Gall or Charlie & Lola. £30 to see Lee Evans. That's £30 for a ticket. To see Lee Evans. The world has gone insane.
Maybe it was the night Denis started nicking his act .... ... but he was very good and they were very very different - Hicks was a comedy genius
RE: Andy Robinson Never heard of him so looked him up on Chortle: "shallow, formulaic rubbish" Was he that bad?
I saw (on tv or video) Denis Leary... ...and thought he was brilliant. I then was pointed towards Bill Hicks and I couldn't believe how similar the stuff he'd done 4/5 years before was to the stuff Leary was doing. I'm sure I saw it in a documentary oncethat before he died Bill Hicks was livid that DL had stolen his act (parts of it word for word), this program showed clips and it significant sections were plagiarised.
Anyway, I agree Denis Leary is funny.
