Neil Warnock scored the goal against Grimsby

Gary Liddell never played for Barnsley in the 1977/78 season.
The scorer against Watford was Ron Wigg. (neer)

Have we got our wires crossed here?

I'm talking about the Barnsley 1 Watford 0 game from September 1977, the first game Spartacus remembers attending. Surely Gary Liddell only played for Leeds United & Grimsby Town?

    Reight....

That Grimsby 2-1 defeat wor Wiggys last game for Reds (Knew it rang a bell somewhere) and he was strangely sold to Scunny for £5000.

Gary Liddell was the Grimsby scorer the night we won promotion in 1979.

Peter Fox kept a clean sheet at Watford not Grimsby

Apart from that your spot on......

    :D :D :D

    No he wasn't

Mike Lester scored for Grimsby the night we clinched promotion in April 1979, John Saunders & Derek Bell scored for us.

1974/75. Drew 2-2 with super sub Micky Butler scoring both our goals. Brilliant game. After that i was hooked.

    You've foxed yourself!

Peter Fox played a blinder in an away 0-0 draw at Watford on a frozen pitch.

    1980 - 1981 season then

i've always counted the start of the season as the year.
premier promotion season was 96 and this season was 07.

apologies to those who took offence.

    Bornemouth at home in 1969/1970...

Won 1- 0 thanks to Alan Bradbury (RIP Alan) - that makes next season my 40th (God, I'm getting old!) :)
