What would your mum and dad do if you where bad then ?
Take your pocket money off you ? what if you don't get pocket money in the first place ?
Send you to your room ? what if you get through the window and run away ?
take TV and Radio from you ? what if you don't have it in the first place then what ?,

The point is our parenting has gone on for 15 years of our daughters life, if you just try and instill discipline after 15 years your going to struggle. In our daughters mind is the calculation of tl15 years of us being keen parents who will expend the time and energy again and again in making sure she is not disobeying us. Yes, she has her freedom, I would not stop her from seeing boys, or going out, or watching tv or any number of other things teenagers do. The key is to pick your fights and make sure they know that on those key areas what we say goes.

They knew she went out at night. When you discover the next morning that she had been out you ground her. She does it again, you ground her again for longer. Again? She gets packed off to boarding school to learn how to behave.

My brick method still seems best. Haven't heard anyone argue differently. Brick em. In the face.

    Good Spot

I know he's responsible for this recession (and as far as I know has yet to apologise for it), so yeh, why not.

On a serious note, when did we become a society that is so obsessed with someone to pin the blame on. Whenever anything happens (i.e a tragedy) we seem far more interested in a witch hunt, than we do in learning lessons. If something bad happens somone must be to blame and what's more its the public's right to cast their judgement. Never mind that in this case a couple have lost a child, let's hang 'em.

Never mind that a child they were supposedly in charge of lost her life because her parents didnt give a toss about where she was!!!
She was 13 years old and was allowed to go out late at night to burn energy off!!! FFS! It was not the first time she was out late at night, yet they didnt care enough about her to make sure she was safe, THAT IS THE TRAGEDY in this story, not how the parents are feeling, but how they didnt do enough to make sure their 13 year old daughter was safe at night!!!

When you go to sleep or for a piss they'll be away if they want out they'll go.

The wife is a little miss goody two shoes, never been in trouble in her life, always done as her Mum and dad say, and as the up most respect for them. she was brought up with a iron fist really strict guidelines as to how to behave and as to what times to be in by and such like, her brother was brought up the exact same way, but he just would not tow the line he did exactly what he wanted from the age of 12 on wards and nothing they did would change that, he's was grounded everyday of his life be still went out when he wanted, if he wanted anything he'd just take it, he just did nit give a ***** and it was nothing to do with his mum and dad it was just the way he was

Sorry mate, it has everything to do with how he was treated by his parents, no child should be allowed to rule the parents, I have had several run ins with my lads, youngest is 17 now, but they always had ground rules and knew there would be trouble if they over stepped the boundaries.

    Re: Good Spot

All I was questioning was why we feel the need/right to make any judgment on that family at all.
Putting aside the fact that, any facts we think we might know come from the press (who themselves will have an agenda), and in truth we have no real idea what went on in that house. "Let he who is without sin ... etc etc". I'm sure the press could make us all look like monsters if it suited them.
