Walton/Collins (Cant make mind up) Sollbauer Helik Andersen Ludewig J Williams Mowatt Styles Thomas Schmidt Frieser/Chaplin Subs Walton/Collins Halme Woodrow Frieser/Chaplin Ritzmaer Simoes New signing/Palmer
I'd still opt for Walton as he hasn't put a foot wrong since coming in. I think the rest of the team is really tough call. As although Frieser and Schmidt did really well, I'd be a bit concerned as to whether both can keep the energy levels up after the effort they put in yesterday. For that reason I could see Struber dropping one if not both. Thomas also deserves a chance in that no. 10 role following his performance and could be ok to go again considering he only did 60 mins yesterday.
I think Thomas and Helik need to play. Not sure about Mowatt, Styles and Thomas as a midfield 3, simply as it looks quite lightweight! But they're 3 absolute ballers so it'd be exciting to see. Watch Ritzmaier start now. Also not sure which strikers should start - I could see a case for any of them
Its a tricky one as I didnt see last nights game and dont forget it wasnt a full strength Boro side - bit hard to know exactly which changes Struber will keep For me based on reports and highlights from last night Walton - absolutely no reason to drop him but good that Collins had a good game Sollbauer Helik Andersen Ludewig J Williams Mowatt Styles Thomas Schmidt Frieser But I wont complain if the front 2 contain Chapin and/or Woodrow I expect Ritz to start though not sure who he replaces as its hard to drop Williams - maybe instead of Helik?
We didn't play with a Number 10 last night really. It was more of a fluid 3-4-3 with Thomas as a wide left forward. Lundwig and Williams (first half - Styles in the second half) both had license to come inside and play central midfield creating more bodies in there and giving us options when we won the ball back. Madds and Soll were encouraged to go forward, almost like Wilder's overlapping CBs, knowing the we had enough bodies to cover and drop when they did. The team will be dictated by the system we play against Reading and not really on individuals as such. Talked about it in this thread. http://barnsleyfc.org.uk/threads/do-we-reckon.295249/
If Ritz plays, it would have to be in the middle now. Would say Styles, Williams and Odour would all be better on the left than him. I'd also say that Styles and Mowatt are better players than both Ritz and Palmer currently, but am not sure about them as a combination in the middle of a 4 yet. They both look like players that would benefit from a DM alongside them, so they can concentrate on driving the team forward.
Only seen the highlights of yesterday's game, I would go; Walton Sollbauer Helik Williams Ludewig Mowatt Ritzmaier Styles Thomas Woodrow Frieser No doubt my opinion on this will change several times between now and Saturday. Williams may have done well at LWB last night, but I think he did well in a back three as well.
Given I didn't see last night's game, I should really have put him in for Helik. If Helik plays in the middle, then I guess it depends on what role Struber wants the left sided CB to play. From what I've seen of when Williams has played there, he's given license to get forward as if he's a left back, and I think he'd be better at that than Andersen. To be honest, he could pick three out of Sollbauer, Helik, Andersen and Williams and I wouldn't really see any reason to debate it. Similarly, Styles or Williams could line up on the left of midfield / wing back and I wouldn't be too fussed (just don't want to see Ritz play there).
Will definitely start. If he can get a game on his nondescript 4/10 performances, he surely will following an encouraging 6/10. I think he even passed forwards at one point.
Reading between the lines, according to this article in the YP, after their displays against ' Boro, Schmidt, Thomas and Helik could well form part of Gerhards thoughts when it comes to selecting his starting eleven for Saturdays game at the Madjeski Stadium. Be very interesting to see who he eventually goes with. https://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/spo...fc-chief-gerhard-struber-food-thought-2973790
