Glad it’s finally been announced. I’m very optimistic with this appointment. Let’s have a good summer of transfers and hit the ground running. Good luck Michael.
For me, as soon as his name was mentioned, he appeared to be the ideal candidate who was potentially available. Whilst it's taken time, I'm glad we've got him onboard eventually because I feel he's the right man to take us forward in the long term. Of course, after a successful season, he might be lured away again, but I think the important thing is, I feel we're more likely to have a successful season now than we would have had we appointed JFH for example.
And as you know, I'm firmly of the opinion that it didn't necessarily need to be a British based coach. But of all of the names mentioned, both UK and European based, I think we've got the right man for the job.
From the candidates mentioned im made up with this appointment. I think he will be a great fit....good luck fella...and well done the suits for their work in getting this deal done.
The third duff coach appointment in a row, but for very different reasons this time. Welcome Michael. May you live long and prosper!
Happy with the appointment, think we are lucky that Blackpool didn't want him tho otherwise it could have been quite different
LR - my view and you might disagree with it, is that managers based on the continent have come to us purely as a way in to English football and a stepping stone to something bigger. Hence if they are successful (e.g. Ismael and Struber to an extent) they are off at the first opportunity they get. Why would they come to us otherwise? Let's face it, they had probably not heard of us until we approached them. It obviously doesn't apply to the last two as we sacked them but if they'd been successful they'd have been off too - and our previous ownership group would've welcomed it as the successful implementation of their strategy. If Michael Duff is successful then he'll also move on to a bigger club but I think the likelihood of him staying for longer is higher. He obviously knows about the club and will be less likely to jump immediately because he'll consider the next opportunity carefully before moving on. I'd gamble now that he'll be here longer than any of our last 6 permanent managers / head coaches. And we really need a bit of continuity right now imo.
