Taking any action will kill the atmosphere. It's **** but at home games 90% of the noise comes from the lads in the top right of the ponty, the same ones bringing pyro, drinking in the stand and smashing the seats up. The rest of the ponty might join in when there's a song started but without them then I'm confident the atmosphere wouldn't be able to come anywhere near the level it's been in the past three games.

Pretty sure we banned a few the other season. Sure enough the top right of the ponty end was empty and there was no atmosphere whatsoever.

Bit of a crap situation to be in, isn't it?

Right Oh. So they sing a few songs, so we have to accept them smashing up the stand as a small price to pay then.

    No ta.

Right minded people can create an atmosphere when the feel good factor is alive and well. Don't remember there being too much trouble creating noise in 96/97, before these fcukwits were born.

It's important to understand that while most of us appreciate that the correct action is to ban them/charge them for damage/whatever, there's going to be controversy in whatever the club do about this. If they let it drop - plenty of people will have a go at them for not doing anything about it. if they take appropriate action - plenty will have a go at them for reducing the atmosphere to a shadow of what is has been. All I'm saying is that in this situation the club are faced with an incredibly difficult decision that they're gonna get **** for whatever they do.

For the record, I'm 100% with you that they should be banned. Simply not something that should be tolerated at all.

I think that if the club made it public, in the programme for example, or on the website, what damage had been caused and that they had identified and banned them all, then the only people who would have an issue with that due to loss of "atmosphere" would be other like minded people who are similarly thick in the head. I don't think the club have any worries.

Completely agree, personally I can't watch a game of football without an atmosphere. Our lass is always complaining when I watch Match of the Day because I set fire to the curtains and start banging saucepan lids together.

its only a few seats ,we've got plenty more , that are not sat on, take a row off west stand lower ,replace the bust ones and give a final warning, we need our singing lads ,we wont be 3rd in the league if we go back to the sponsored silence when they are not here , its just high spirits, when they have had their warning don't think it would happen again

a few vandalism facts I googled

Some acts of vandalism occur as a prank. Because the destruction or damage might be slight, the actions are not observed as a crime.

Young individuals observe vandalism as a way or game showing guts to their peers. This possibility is supported by the fact that most acts of vandalism are committed while two or more individuals are together

Defacement or destruction of property allows a person to vent anger, frustration or anxiety without personal confrontation
, the theoretical overview reveals that in general, vandalism is inspired by negative feelings such as revenge, anger, boredom, and frustration, however, it is also motivated by playfulness, curiosity and pleasure. Elements such as creativity, peer group pressure, and communications are also considered. this affirms that almost 80%-90% of all acts of vandalism are carried out by males; vandalism reaches its peak in mid teenage hood and alcohol is a common variable in vandalistic activities

All this 'atmosphere' talk is pretty much ******** anyway.

These dickheads have been attending oakwell and causing trouble for the last few years and haven't been creating that much of an atmosphere apart from an atmosphere of hate and violence. Oakwell is at times like a morgue and that's with the nobheads in the ground

Pissed up yobs (that's exactly what they are) singing about the Yorkshire ripper, smashing the stands up, threatening stewards, letting off smoke grenades and invading the pitch are not creating an atmosphere that I want to be associated with really.

I'm still not clear why the stewards don't deal with the issue straight away. The culprits could be removed, details taken and banning orders in place already. Surely that's what they are there for between 'Code Orange' moments obviously.

These lads didn't invent singing you know. It happened at Oakwell long before they were born, and will happen long after they have actually grown up.

"Just high spirits" comes at a cost to the club, and is continually landing us in trouble. No excuse. It's perfectly possible behind the team without being a d#ckhead, and without causing damage.
