Disappointment My fears came to light today and although people will hide things behind the referee today it was poor from the reds. I'm not bothered what anyone says. We are weak without the ball with Scowen and Hourihane in their. Neither have the attributes nor discipline to sit in and dictate play at the speed that other teams have. Nor can they dominate the play without it and read the game like their player Williams could and can with ease. In defense, all of them aren't what others have. Today they had two players that were up for moves this summer. Liam Moore and Tyler Blackett. We had two former non league players and sorry but you can tell. They make mistake with and without the ball. I really hope that doesn't keep costing the team. They haven't the quality on the ball either. Mawson could quite easily move onto the ball and get the ball to feet out wide over the full backs head or in between the lines into a midfielder or striker. Striker. It's all the same. Now this isn't a reaction after today it's been obvious all summer and since the club didn't get Ashley Fletcher back we've got non of it. Non of our strikers have that something different Fletcher had. Strength, height, pace, nounce/ game craft. Today we couldn't just pick out a full back and hit the diagonal that we could with Fletcher. I've mentioned one strike that was mentioned he could go out onloan but there others too. We have a chance to have a great season this, I just hope the poor last week in August for REAL quality players doesn't cost the club. I'm annoyed today but it goes further than 90 minutes of football.
can't make my mind up beer, popcorn or both! On a serious note it happens times many to teams you have a great result and the next game its flat, maybe a bit down on application or mindset, it will pass.
Shocking post. All of it is wrong. If you don't like watching 4-4-2 and want to see Premier League players then go and watch Man City. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
So our two central midfielders are weak without the ball, can't dictate the play or read the game. Our two central defenders look like non-league players, make mistakes and can't play football. Our strikers aren't up to it, lacking height, pace, strength. We haven't brought any players in with any real quality. Yet you still think we can have a great season? Our wingers and full backs must be amazing.
You are being somewhat selective in your assessment Hemsie. We beat Wolves away 4-0 on Tuesday. The same team that went to hot favourites Newcastle today. And won. So to extrapolate an overall conclusion from a loss today is nothing more than Hemsworthian. Poor? We know what poor is down the well. Why were the fans still singing at the end?
Been obvious all summer yet we are top scorers. Scowen and Hourihane have been outstanding this year as have Roberts and Mcdonald in last few games. Can you remember any errors they made today or point them out as they weren't that obvious.
They played 3-6-1 how on earth can Scowen and Hourihane cope with that midfield, when we have 2 wingers. Yet we gave it a good go. Think our manager lost v theirs today. I'm sure he'll learn from it. I'd still take what we're doing over overrated, highly paid, Premier League youngsters.
I have a feeling this will be the first post of a few contributors who will rush to claim intellectual superiority over our prospects for the season. A broken clock is right twice a day. Breaking news - a team made up of lower and non league players didn't beat (at last ) a team established at this level and with individually 'better' players. Let's give Reading some credit - for 20/25 minutes they gave us a lesson. That said - Kent's shot goes in or Davies doesn't give a daft pen away and it's a different game. Have we stopped giving our lads some slack when they fall short and some time to get to grips with this league ? Likewise Hecky & Tommy would have seen where we struggled today. This season's word - 'context' Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Poor !!! Really ?? If we had been under the cosh all game and out fought, out played , and out classed I could understand it but we haven't. I think because of our recent results and performances some think we should be beating teams out of sight every week. They're still young lads finding their way into this league against experienced players. All this we were poor and didn't deserve anything is making me think we are expecting too much. But for the run of the ball and dodgy refereeing we could have won that game when they had a man sent off. If he hadn't been sent off I don't know how we would have gone on as they wouldn't have packed the defense out as they did. Once a gain our team of young inexperienced lads gave a good account of themselves today imo.
Said all along mate. Free hit this season. This team and manger deserve it. Yet we're 4th. Just behind Newcastle and Norwich. And yet some post that their fears have been realised. Give me ******* strength.
''There still young lads finding their way'' The two defenders I highlight are above are 22 and 23 respectively. Roberts 26, Mcdonald 23 White 24, Yiadom 24. all Of them are older than the two mentioned by years or days.
And how much experience at lge 1 or even championship level.? Obviously your not gonna give any credit whatsoever to these lads which highlights your inexperience at judging performances.
I don't pay or spend crazy amounts of time traveling to watch people gain experience. It's nice but you have to have the ability to play it. Mawson Holgate Stones, all played at a younger age than those two but first and foremost they have to be good enough.
